A simple task turned into a nightmare and will cost us over double what we paid already to repair what he did.  RJ Wooten started out friendly and volunteered info about how experienced he was as a painter and all the folks he knows in the community. The power washing work he performed left several pieces of the deck wood damaged, rippled, splintered or marked up. He stated ahead of time that he would move everything off the deck prior to working.  A chemical they used in power washer had some type of bleach or other washing chemical in it and almost killed several potted plants under the house that they didn't bother to move.  He didn't call back to arrange his second visit . It required at least four phone messages and a text message over a two week period to get him to return to finish working.  I regret that I called him to return.  When he finally returned to finish, he sprayed the deck using a hand- pump sprayer (improper equipment). I asked him twice while he was working if he would be using some type of brush or applicator to smooth the product into the wood since it was sitting in puddles along the boards. He said no because spraying was  recommended and it was to be left to dry. He told me that he went ahead and put water sealer on our wooden deck chairs too. ( I thought he was going to move them to keep spray off them). He gave me an empty bottle of some type of chemical he said he put in the sprayer that was supposed to keep mold off ( nothing I asked for and how do I know it was compatible). Within 24 hours, the entire deck was ruined - instead of a clear water sealer that shouldn't show at all, it looks like someone splattered some type of wax across the entire deck area, the stairs, the gates, the railings, etc. An approximate total of about 500 square feet. Some mold was still appearing and the house showed evidence of overspray in several places. The damage caused by RJ Wooten's work will require sanding, cleaning, repainting and hundreds of dollars to repair. The appearance is worse than it was before he started. It took two additional weeks to get him to respond to my calls about the problem.  Next, he claimed to have come by  to look at the problem (without an appointment when no one was home and entering a gated area),  only to state that the "sun would have to work on it" and there was "nothing he could do except put more on". I suggested that show me that he was experienced and to correct the problem using his expertise.  My comments were followed by him making several hostile, unprofessional and inaccurate accusations over the phone. He eluded that he didn't need my business because he had plenty already.  My husband called later to request half our money back. RJ was again unprofessional and rude and stated "don't call me again".

He painted, sprayed mostly, overspray on foundation, conduit. He did not
paint where he could not while spraying. Behind gutter downspouts,
outside temperature sensor could have easily been taken off but he taped
over it instead. I have to go back and touch up.
Left trash around,
paint on grass everywhere. Just unprofessional for the price I think.
Charged me more than we agreed on, said the boards cost him more.
Thought I was going to save $1000 over next painter, wound up only
saving 300.
He did stop my leak on the patio cover though. For now.
Just my opinion that for what we got and I know the higher priced painter, I
should have gone with higher one. He is more Quality.

He could have painted the Cistine chapel in the amount of time he took to paint the building.  He said it would take 9 days, and he took over a month, and finally we just told him to quit before he finished the job, just to get him to get his stuff he was storing in our bldg so
that we could try to get the business opened.  He did not use drop cloths and tracked paint everywhere all over the carpet.  He painted the outside when it was suppose to rain that day, and the rain came, and you saw paint running in the streets.  We would get there
and no one would be working, and when we would say something, someone, or he would show up, and paint for a few minutes until
we left, and then he would take off. Extremely messy, unprofessional and slow.  He even painted over wet sheetrock mud.

Excellent work! Very timely and professional. They not only performed all the work stated on the estimate to our approval, but did more, without increasing the cost. Communications were great and their workarea was consistenly neat. They were always careful with and mindful of the plants near the house.  We are extremely satisfied!
