Real Estate Auctions
It went very poorly. He took several of my items to an auction in West Texas. Things like Indian artifacts, a statue pair, a deer lamp I made, a Tiffany lamp, and several cowboy hats and boots, and an expensive leather jacket that was never worn. He returned most of the items ruined. The two Indian Statues had a chip. He brought back the deer horn lamp with a nasty scratch on the shade. The brand new leather jacket had scratches on it. He sold the Tiffany lamp at a cheaper price (He claimed it was broken, which it wasn't). He said he would make good on the damage he caused, but he never did.
When he came back, he started to take inventory my glass (I've operated a stained glass business for 40 years, my garage was loaded with stained glass and supplies). He was supposed to sell items in my house that I was thinking about moving, and possibly the house itself. But I decided I wasn't going to sell the house, I'm going to let my daughter make that decision. That disappointed him. He had me moving several items outside (Even though I'm on oxygen). Come to find out, he sold several objects on the internet without my permission. Then he wanted a very expensive turtleback Tiffany lamp. I told him I wanted $400 for it. He said his helper wanted to buy it, but if not that he would buy it. When he totaled everything up in the end, there was a 30% taken off the price for the lamp.
When everything was said and done, he gave me a check for $1348. The check was not signed. I contacted him to get him to sign it. He said that I could sign his name for him. He provided a check the next week when I refused to forge his signature. Then I called him about compensating me for the damages. He thought I was griping too much so he dropped out of the auction, which was fine with me. But I was left with a 12'x60' POD that was 3/4 full of things that he took out of the garage to make room to sell the glass, and he told me that it is up to me to take care of it. I had to hire someone to help me empty that POD to return it on time, which made it very difficult on me. I hope no one would have to experience what I have through this Auctioneer. I am now very leery about using ANY auctioneer.
