Ty Ramsey Piano Service Company

My piano is hard to tune - it's a Steinway upright and it's a real balancing act to get all of the notes sounding good together. Mr. Ramsey didn't mind that it was difficult. The piano sounds as good as it did when I purchased it - perhaps better. I am happy to have found a gifted piano technician, and will call him again.

Ty was very professional. He got here right on time, and got the piano tuned in 1 hour. I will definitely use his service again.

We recently moved our piano to Texas from out of state. It wasn't very out-of-tune, but one key had been sticking since before our move. Ty quoted me $125 for tuning, but when he came, he said it didn't need a full tuning. He repaired the sticky key and made a few small adjustments and charged us only $75 for a service call. Very professional, and less expensive than expected!

Mr. Ramsey was quick to respond to an e-mail request for piano tuning service and was flexible in scheduling an appointment. He arrived on-time and his work was professional and courteous. Our 55+ year old Story & Clark upright piano sounds great now! His charge was reasonable. I highly recommend him for piano tuning service.

Ty was GREAT! Tuned the piano perfectly. Since it had been so long since we had it tuned, it took 2 visits to tune the piano to keep from overstretching the strings. Ty was right on time for both visits. Very nice and personable. Will definitely have Ty tune our piano again. This time, we won't wait another 8 years.

Ty first came in December, after we had chose him from Angie's List reviews. He opened the piano to look at the condition. We knew there was two broken hammers, because the key had dropped and that the tuning was off, as well as a few sticking keys. Ty checked the serial number to find a manufactured date of 1916. He evaluated the repairs need and explained that it would cost allot more than a basic tuning and may need to be tuned an lower, in-order to not brake the wires. We discussed how much we had in the piano (only about $500, including movers) and that I was a novice player. He noted that the value with his added work would be less than the value of the piano and recommended the $700 service. We agree that it was worth that to us too; because it had not been serviced in 45 years and had been moved twice in the seven years we have owned it. Ty took out the hammer section of the piano to take it home and do repairs and set-up the follow-up appointment for the Jan 13th afternoon. When he return it took him about three hours to re-install the hammer section and tune the piano. At all times Ty was very professional, timely and could knowledgeably answer our questions. Only thing left for me to do was to replace the felt on the muting bar and to practice. I would highly recommend his service.

Ty showed up right on time and went to work on my old (and questionable) piano. It He not only tuned it he repaired the lid and a couple of internal parts that has become dislodged. In very short order, Ty had the piano working superbly... As a final flourish to his service, he ran through a few of his favorite songs on the piano - He really is an apt pianist. It was a real treat to hear him play and I look forward to my children learning to play on this piano that Ty helped us maintain.

He did a great job. He got the piano tuned in about an hour. We definitely will be using him again and he is my guy now. I would recommend him to others.

Ty was very prompt communicating and scheduling the appointment. He arrived exactly at our scheduled time and went right to work. Within a few minutes he had the piano opened up and a few minutes later was ready to give the diagnosis. Ty was very detailed and even showed me the parts of the piano that needed to be repaired and why. He did a great job explaining to me. He explained that the piano was repaired previously with incorrect parts like common screws that were not the right size. Also the piano was very not stored in a climate controlled environment there was some visible damage of this. Unfortunately all of this combined with the age of the piano resulted in much more work required to get the piano in playable condition. I appreciate very much that Ty was straight with me and explained all of this and did a great job answering my questions. He also didn't try to sell me on the repairs in fact he agreed with me that he would not put that much work into this piano because the cost of the repairs needed would likely exceed what the piano was worth. The best part is that Ty did not even charge me for the visit!!! Citing his "mercy clause"... WOW! Ty even offered to assist me with decision on my next piano purchase! I can't recommend Ty's services enough. I have definitely found the go to guy for piano service! Thank you Ty and Angie's List!

I contacted Mr. Ramsey via email to schedule my appointment. He was responsive and accommodating as far as timing. He arrived right on time and got straight to work. Since my piano had not been tuned in about 6 years, he had already prepared me (via email) for the possibility of an additional charge. However, it turned out the piano was not in too bad of shape and he was finished within an hour. The best part was listening to him play as the final step in his process. I will definitely contact him again and will recommend him whole-heartedly to anyone who asks.

After moving twice with work in the last five years our piano was long overdue for tuning. I scheduled an appointment with Mr. Ramsey based on the high marks he had received in past reviews. Mr Ramsey's professional service has allowed us to once again enjoy our piano. We will look to Mr. Ramsey for future maintenance service.

1)Family came for 2 weeks right after Ty had been here. We were on the go so much that no one sat down to play. 2) I got to the piano right after they left. The treble part was not in tune. Ty came very quickly and determined that it needed voicing, a pretty involved procedure to replace parts that were "worn and hardened?" He said it was best done right after a tuning. 3) His suggestion was to wait til we had it tuned the next time. 4) I will limit my playing to middle and bass keys til we get this fixed. Ty was a total professional, and we felt we had the best of care. I did not stay with him but entrusted the work to him with my husband standing by. BTW, he (my husband) does not play piano. Rest assured when we do this again, I will be a more involved participant and not let my embarrassment of not playing well keep me from playing something and trying the piano out before he leaves, as he suggested. Could not have been more pleased with our good fortune in choosing this gifted and professional musician to help us out.

It was easy to set appointment by email with Ty (although I didn't think to call until close to Christmas so the appointment was scheduled for several weeks out). He was quick to respond to scheduling request and reminded me of the appointment the day before. He was on time, very professional, and quickly and efficiently tuned and fixed the piano. He has put me on his calendar so that I will get a reminder for service next year.

Ty is friendly, expert, and very business-like. I guess that means he?s a pro. He estimated the time and cost and was right on the mark for bot. What especially impressed me was that I noticed something a week later that wasn?t right. He returned promptly, spent some time troubleshooting it. fixed it, and wouldn?t charge me, That?s exceptional service and quality.

It was an excellent experience.

Ty did an excellent job of tuning our Yamaha grand and also gave us an appraisal at a very reasonable fee. He was extremely professional and we would highly recommend him to anyone needing work done on a piano.

My husband and I were just handed down an antique piano, which was my great grandmother's. It was very out of tune, so we were looking for advice as to tuning/maintenance for it. We contacted Ty and he was very prompt getting us scheduled to take a look at it. Ty was very prompt- right on time. We appreciated his honest opinion regarding repair. In this case with it being very old, dirty, and badly out of tune, Ty didn't recommend any work. He was very honest with me that this could become a very costly project. Overall, I was very pleased with our meeting and will definitely call on Ty again for future service, as well as recommend him to our friends!

Our Sherman Clay piano had not been tuned since we bought it from a family friend several years ago, including transporting it from Oklahoma to Texas. We found Ty on Angie's List, and he came highly recommended. I contacted him through email and he was prompt to respond. He set up an appointment to come out a couple days later. Ty's price to tune the piano was very reasonable, especially since it hadn't been tuned in many years. He did a great job, and we would recommend him. We will definitely use him in the future.

Mr. Ramsey was very professional and informative. Our old piano was beyond help. Mr. Ramsay took time to educate us and did not charge us since he was unable to tune the piano. I will definitely call him again to tune the other piano.

The keys were sticking on my 80 year old grand piano and it was way out of tune. Our move from Michigan to Texas apparently caused all the keys to swell a bit, so no one had been playing it. It had been rebuilt just before the move so the strings were stretchy as well. Ty knew what to do, and gave it an initial tune and made an appointment to repair the keys. On the second visit, he was in and out in about 2-1/2 hours having reworked all of the keys and tuned the strings a second time. The action and sound are superb now. Ty is courteous and a true professional. I trust him implicitly with this family heirloom and will have him back for future tunings.
