"Hi [Removed Member Name], thanks for trusting us with your automotive needs! We appreciate you very much. Jerry"
Dropped my car on Tuesday morning. It had broken down the night before and I had my car towed to The Auto Shop on Tuesday. Later that day they called to talk with me about the repair work for my car, and it was going to cost close to $2,000. I could not believe the cost. Then he said that he could give me $100 off the price to help me out. I agreed to the work and the price. They repaired my car. When I returned to the shop late on the next day to pick up my car, a woman at the counter talked with me about a ?Maintenance Package? that I could buy for $150, that would give me many free services which totaled $592.64. I saw that of the many coupons of free services were 4 free oil changes, and I thought of how those would pay me back the $150 which I would be paying for this package. I also saw on the ?card? that has these coupons that The Auto Shop had a second location other than the one that I was visiting, and it showed that they have hours on Saturdays. Because of my week day work hours and the distance from my work and home to this Auto Shop, it would only be feasible for me to be able to use their services on Saturday. Yes my first visit was on a week day, only because my car broke down and I was forced to miss time from work to have my car repaired. However for future maintenance work, I would need to handle that on Saturdays. So since it appeared to be a great deal and they showed they had Saturday hours, I purchased the ?Maintenance Package.? It was not until later after I was home that I saw that they had marked one of the coupons on my card off as already being used, the one for ?10% off any repair up to $100.? Once I saw that, I did not think it was right of them to mark off that coupon since they had offered me the $100 off before I purchased this package, when we had talked on the phone prior to the repair. However I just ignored that and thought the remainder of coupons would still be a good deal.
Saturday, September 1st
I decided to start using the coupon cards. They were good for one year and it had been 5 months, so I wanted to start using them and be able to benefit from them all. I decided to visit on the 1st for a free oil change, as well as a free ?52 point check.? I arrived at the location where I had previously visited in April and they were closed. So I thought it was the 2nd location listed on the coupon card that had the Saturday hours. I then drove to find it, to instead find that it did not exist.
Wednesday, Sept 5th:
Called and talked with Charla. She said that the second location listed on the coupon card has not existed in 4 years, and that they do not have any hours on Saturday. I explained that if I knew they did not have Saturday hours I would never of bought the this package. I wanted a refund of the $150. She will talk with the owner, and will call me back. Hours later I called her a 2nd time and was told that she was still waiting to talk with the owner and will call me back when she can get an answer from him. She never called me.
Monday, Sept 10th:
After waiting since the previous Wednesday, Charla had not called me back. I called again and talked with Linda, who stated that she was the office manager. She stated that she would need to talk with the owner, and she assured me that she WOULD call me back by the end of the day.
Wednesday, 12th:
Still no return call. I called again, Charla answered, and then she put Jerry on the phone. He was extremely rude and expressed no consideration whatsoever for the coupon card having false information on it of a 2nd location that no longer exist as well as Saturday hours which also do not exist, and have not existed for 4 years. Instead he only pointed out that it had been several months since I purchased the coupons and was just now using them. So? They are good for a year and it is my business when I choose to use them. He would not give me a refund, instead he offered me a credit of $150 towards future services. Did he ignore the part where I said I could only use their services if they had Saturday hours as printed on the coupon card which I purchased. When I told him that the credit not help me, he said he would send me a bond for $50. He talked to me as if it was my fault and did not seem to agree at all that there was a problem with the wrong information which they gave to me with the ?Maintenance Package.? I could not believe the ?attitude? that he was giving me as if I had no reason to have a problem with them and they had done nothing wrong. I reminded him that I would of never purchased the coupon card if I did not think they had Saturday hours. He did not care. He talked to me with inconsideration and rudeness. There was not an ounce of care in his voice. It was all ?attitude.? He obviously does not care about customer service or the appreciation of anyone that comes into his business for services. So I paid $150 for something that I cannot use, and it happened because they have false information on the card which leads customers to believe there is a second location of the company with Saturday hours, and this does not exist. They give false information and do not care what problems this causes their customers. I will never be at their shop again, and I will be sharing this with many people that I know, so that they do not follow my experience and have a bad experience as I did in any way.
"Customer had her vehicle towed into The Auto Shop because her vehicle had died while driving and she could not drive it to us. According to our documents and the review that she posted on Angie's List, she "found" us via Angie's List. When anyone looks on Angie's List, Google, our website and everyplace else online, it is clearly indicated that our hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 5:30pm. The Customer actually came into our shop at 2560 E. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas 75074 to pick up her vehicle on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 4:00:22pm. Our systems are time dated. Our hours of operation are clearly and appropriately indicated with the days and hours of operation of Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm on the doors of our offices. Upon completion of the work, we (The Auto Shop) offered her a "Members Only Maintenance Plan" which is a pre-payment of basic maintenance. She purchased this in order for us to provide to her our Lifetime Warranty on the air conditioning compressor AND to use the $100 Discount Coupon for the repairs that were done to her vehicle. While it is true that the paperwork for the "MOMP" does show that we have Saturday hours and a location that is no longer in operation that should have been marked out, at no time during the offer of this plan was the second address or the hours brought up. The Customer accepted the "MOMP" and used the "10% up to $100.00" discount off of the services provided ($100.00) at that time. (Please note the photo that the Customer included. There is a black "X" marking out the coupon indicating that it has been used already.) When the Customer called us demanding a refund on the maintenance package she was informed that we would not give her the refund. She demanded to speak to the owner. She left a message because the owner was not in the office at the time because of a business trip. After I returned from my trip and was catching up after being out of town, the Customer called. I picked up the telephone and the Customer demanded that we refund her the money for the maintenance package. I explained to her that she had already used some of the benefits of the program and that we could not refund her money. I also stated that I would gladly apply a $150.00 credit to her account to be used toward any repair or service. I also reminded her that the documents clearly state that if the customer is not happy we will be happy to give them a $50.00 U.S. Savings Bond. She was VERY rude to me and told me that she" did not want anything from us, ever!" and she hung up the telephone. This program is like any other annual membership (like a membership to a gym). We offered to add the credit to her account. She is a very rude, obnoxious, angry person without justification who decided after 5 months that she no longer wanted the membership and could not get what she demanded."
The first time was hard to swallow, but we chalked it up to bad luck. The second time was enough to let us know this is how they operate. This is part of their scam.
When you take a car in for service and pay the high rates they charge, it should be fixed once and for all. To have multiple problems all going out at once is unlikely. And when called out on their behavior, they are unapologetic.
These guys are crooks. Stay away!
"We have no record of this person EVER coming to our shop for service. I sincerely hope that it is a case of mistaken identity."
"Thank you for trusting us with servicing your vehicles! We appreciate it."
