STEVE TICKNER PAINTING & REMODELING

Steve's crews did an outstanding job painting both the exterior and interior of my home. On the outside, they did a lot of prep work and replaced several areas of damaged siding. The job was completed quickly, and the clean-up was great. On the interior, they repainted most of the walls, ceilings, cabinets, wood work, ceiling beams and retextured where needed, covering most of the first floor. I was very pleased with the work. Every day, they would sweep up, and stack their ladders and paint out of the way, for the evening. They showed up on time, put in a good days work and completed the project in the timeframe promised. As Realtor, I would not hesitate in recommending Steve Tickner Painting to my clients.

The project started exactly when scheduled and ended on schedule. The project took almost 5 days. The crew was very professional. They maintained a very regular schedule and at the end of each day, they left our home very orderly.

I was very happy with the job the painters did and their professionalism. They were also on time and on budget. I would use them again.

I scheduled Steve to come out and give an estimate for remodeling a dining room. The first time he called and canceled at the time of our appointment. I rescheduled to have him come back out, only because I had used him in the past to paint the exterior of my house and his crew did a great job. The second time he texted me a few minutes prior to our appointment and canceled. This was extremely unprofessional and I no longer recommend his company.

I phoned Mr. Tickner over a week ago but no call back. After a couple of days, I sent a Angie's list e-mail with no response. Two painters called be back to say they had lots of work and wouldn't be able to do anything before November. Perhaps, Mr. Tickner has lots of work but the courteous and professional way to do things is the contact the customer and inform his of the situation. When I find someone who is unprofessional, I believe it carries over the their work and avoid them.

This is the 4th project Steve Tickner has completed for us. As always, they always are very responsive to any questions, work will with us to provide us options for textures on the walls, and do an outstanding job on the painting.

Everything went well, and he even asked if his team could start a day early, which we agreed to. Total time took four days. The only negative was that some of my gutters were removed, destroyed, and left behind. While it was agreed that one 40 foot expanse of my gutter had to be removed and thrown away, the 20 foot one in the front of the house was not mentioned to me at all. It was only partially removed, as the down spout is still attached to the house. That being said, I'd still use Steve and his team again.

I give him “A’s” across the board. When I need a painting job, he is the one I call back and he is who I recommended.

Before beginning, I consulted with 3 or 4 vendors on Angie' List. I choose Steve Tickner. His bid wasn't the lowest or the highest, but he seemed capable in the walk through, and he provided all the right assurances on getting the job done right. I did not negotiate, ask for a lower price, or press for anything to be 'thrown in' for free. I had the job done while my family went away on vacation. I thought this best for everybody (client and vendor), and Steve encouraged this approach. His crew did a nice job of making sure everything in the house was in order when we returned. He corrected any issues that I noticed in post job walk through, and he seemed a bit smarmy and annoyed when I pointed things out. Not necessarily big things, just standard stuff. So far so good. But then it got worse. Over the coming days/weeks, my family started noticing places that seemed to have been missed. In one area in particular (hallway) it looked like the job got started with on type of finish (satin) and completed in another (flat). It wasn't immediately obvious, but could be clearly seen during different times of the day. Not a HUGE deal, but when you drop $8,000, you want it done better than that. As I prepared to sell the house a few months later, I call Steve again. We needed some touch up work after replacing and remodeling the bathroom. clean up areas where we removed light fixtures and paintings, etc. We scheduled the job for a Friday at 10AM. A few weeks before the job date, I called him and asked him if he could fix the work that had done in the hallway. I reminded him of the paint color. He aggressively stated that his guys didn't do shoddy work. I must be wrong. I told him don't know how or why the paint in hallway looks bad...perhaps my explanation of paint finishes was wrong, but in any case it looks like crap. All I was asking was...while you're here doing the next job, please fix this area and keep the touch up off of the bill. He said he'd look at it. The scheduled date came, and after two hours of waiting past the scheduled time, I called him to ask when he expected to arrive. He stated that he thought it would be better if I found somebody else. Really?? I wanted to know why he couldn't tell me that weeks ago? I couldn't found someone else. He then hung up on me. Class act. I wasn't asking him for money or a refund. I was looking to give him more work. He scheduled the job, then no-showed me without a courtesy call. When I called, he hung up on me. I sent him the pictures of the poor work to show what I was talking about, but he ignored me. I'll post the picture here. You'll see what I mean. I grateful for Angie's List where such lack of professionalism and integrity can be exposed. Don't be fooled by Tickner Painting like I was.

Steve's crew came in and went right to work doing what was needed. Steve was very accommodating as I changed things a couple of times. Workmanship was great.

Steve was by far the best contractor we used for our kitchen remodel! He gave us a good quote for painting our kitchen cabinets and the result is outstanding. His men were very professional and came back 1 more day when they weren't happy with the result yet. I would use them for any paint job I have in the future

This was the third time I have used this company. They always do a great job. Mr. Tickner does the bidding and checks on the progress of his men each day. The painters are very skilled and cleaned up nicely before they left. They are very polite.

Steve came out and gave the estimate. While they are not the cheapest in town -- they certainly are one of the best. I will pay more for quality work. The workers were on time, taped everything off and cleaned up after themselves when finished. I have also used Tichner for painting the outside of the house and texturing/painting kitchen. Steve came back, following up to ensure they did a good job. Plan to have them back next year as I have a popcorn ceiling to remove.

Steve is the best. He is on site and the crew does exactly as expected. Arrived on time for the quote. His crew was on time each of the three days they were at my house. Did not appear to take any shortcuts and painted everything exactly as we wanted. They have everything cleaned up when it is done like they were not even there.

After the workmen left, I noticed that some of the shingles above the gutters were raised. Before I could call Phillips I received a call from them asking me how the job went. I mentioned the raised shingles and within an hour someone came to inspect the job. I received another call telling me that the the wrong size gutter guard had been installed and would be taken care of that day. It was! I would recommend Phillips to everyone.

We've used Steve and his crew many times over the years, and they are absolutely top notch. Very knowledgeable, professional, and at a fair price. What more can one ask?

Steve Tickner and his crew have been painting my house for almost 18 years and have never let me down. This time, I had a mishmash of smaller projects that needed to be tackled. Steve's crew showed up on time, worked continuously throughout the day and did an outstanding job of cleaning up afterwards. We had one small mis-communication regarding some trim along the staircase that I thought was included, and Steve went above and beyond to make sure that I was 100% happy with the final product. I could not be more pleased with the results. I was nervous about the staining and it turned out excellent. Steve's crew guided me selecting a color that would complement our hardwood floors while updating our look. I will continue to use Steve's company for all of my interior and exterior painting.

We like using his service. Our neighbors recently used him and he provides service to a lot of people in our area as he lives in this area as well. We have used him several times since 1990 when we bought our home. He has painted the house twice and he has replaced rotted wood in the past as well.

I was/am very pleased with the final work. Workers were prompt, courteous, and did a great job. They always cleaned up the area before leaving for the day and the work was completed in a very timely manner. I will definitely call this company again.

I cannot tell you how pleased I have been with STEVE TICKNER PAINTING and REMODELING. They do excellent work, are excellent to work with and show excellent care for my home. If I need any more painting in the future, I will surely call Steve and his people. Of all the workman I have used in the past year, working with them was the most pleasureable.

I cannot imagine better service! From the initial estimate to the final walk around, the quality was exemplary. The paint looks amazing, they had to do several carpentry repairs on my chimney which look perfect, and the clean up left no evidence they were ever here. The crew was polite, professional, and very talented. We will be repainting the interior of our house this winter and I will use Steve again. If fact, he will be my only call.

Steve stopped by to take a look at the required work, and gave me an estimate on the spot. The work was done not by his employees, but by subcontractors. They came to my house early. Steve stopped by a little later with the equipment (ladders, paint, wood) so that they could get to work, and picked it up after they were done. The quality of the work was ok. It lacked attention to detail. The 2 subcontractors were not the most friendly. After the work was done, one of the subcontractors walked me through what they had done. Steve did not check in, after the work was done. Overall, I am not too impressed. I felt that after I accepted the work, Steve completely disengaged. The work was done by subcontractors (of average quality, and below average friendliness). If I had to do it over again, I would hire someone who does the work himself (with the help of his employees), and with more attention to detail.

Their pricing was exorbitant and they did not clean up with the mop or anything. They are very expensive and overcharge. They do not perform really good professional work in my estimation. They left my windows without painting them. I sent them pictures of where they did not paint through email and I did not get an answer back from them. They always had excuses whenever I called to complain about anything. One of their team did not have as good painters as the other team which was working. It was an unfortunate situation where I did not get quality work. I would not use them again in the future.

Appreciate the no-nonsense, up front pricing. The courteous crew arrived on time and completed the work the same day.

We were very happy with the service and quality of work. They arrived on time each day. It took 3 days to do the work. The crew were very nice and efficent. They always left the work area neat at the end of the day. In the end we got exactly what we wanted and it looks great.
