Issues: High Cost versus Quality of Work/ Lackluster Communication Skills/ Handling of Customer Issues I used RMJ Landscaped based on the facts that my neighbor used them to install Palmetto grass with good results and the company that supplies the grass also recommended them. I used them to install grass and do some light landscape work. The crew worked hard, but didn't seem to have the skills required for the landscaping part of the work. The edging installed was not straight (had waves in it) and not fully dug into the ground (over 50% of it was just sitting on top of the ground - I have pictures to prove this). I also had to go around after they finished to clean up some of the grass edges up against my landscape stones. For the price charged, I expected a higher level of quality and detailed work to be done. Throughout the entire time, I found communication with this company challenging and although I documented things in emails and writing, this information was not always fully processed or read. When I contacted the owner about the issue with the edging, I was told he would send his worker back "one more time to fix it" - turns out he spoke to his worker to get his side of the story without talking to me or coming to my house to see the work. I requested the owner come to my house so we could properly communicate and it was apparent he was not fully listening to me and didn't admit there really was an issue, making excuses for the edging not being dug into the ground and trying to pin the blame on me. When I inquired about some grass that looked like it wasn't taking, his simple response was "to give it time". When I later spoke to the grass company I got a detailed explanation that made sense and confirmed I was following the correct watering pattern - something I expected the owner of RMJ Landscapes would have taken the time to explain. When they returned to fix the edging, they did not bring new edging, nor have the correct tools to fully correct the issue. They did lower the edging where it is "passable". What I unfortunately found was this company was more focused on making money than making the customer happy and doing a quality job. The job is ok, but not what I expected quality wise. Please note that the price did NOT include purchase of grass ($1,100) - I was responsible for the purchase of the grass from the grass company. Their price charged ($2,000) was for their labor and materials minus the grass sod. UPDATE 9/22/16: I've recently changed my grade for the quality of the work to an "F". I now have two large areas that are dying and in decline in areas that receive sufficient sun and water. Now, I have to have another company come out to re-do approximately 30% of their work. They clearly didn't roto-till or prepare appropriately, so the grass couldn't effectively take root. The Bermuda grass came back up through the St. Augustine sod. My neighbor has the exact same grass, and he never had this problem. Now, portions of my lawn are disintegrating.

The contractor appeared on time with sod, soil, and mulch. They stripped and raked the lawn. They then smoothed lawn contours and removed soil that had been left by a previous contractor. Finally, they sodded and trimmed out the yard.

I have been using RMJ Landscaping for ten years. When I bought my house ten years ago, RMJ was the company the previous homeowner was using, so I stayed with them. I am glad I did. They have been an excellent company.
RMJ does my regular yard maintenace every week but we also hire them to do extra yard work several times a year. They always come exactly when they say they will and do everything we ask. They do quality work.
Several years ago, Ruben noticed there was no grass growing under our big oak tree in the front yard, and spoke to me about a solution. In the whole time we had lived in the house, grass had never grown under that tree. RMJ planted some good grass under the tree and and I am happy to say, it has thrived and flourished.
I feel like I get straight dealing with RMJ. They do exactly what they say they will for exactly the price they say they will charge.

I spend $26 a week. I just have him mow, blow and go. They show up. They do a good job. Occasionally, they break a bird feeder or forget to blow a patio. I call up the owners and they make it bright. They are very responsive. I would like them if they were cheaper and they are in line with other companies. In terms of quality, once in a while I see a little swatch of grass that didn't get mowed, but it is not every week, it is just once in a while.

We never had any problems with them. They don't take more than an hour and half to do the work. I like their price. They do a good job. If we ask them to do something extra, they come and do that. I would use them in the future.

I have used them for 7 years. They do a good job and show up. They are reasonably priced. When I have something go wrong or they forget to do something, all I have to do is call them and they will send someone back the same day. I would like it to be cheaper, but I haven't shopped around because I like them. Sometimes I see little spots of grass that maybe didn't get mowed. They show up every time they are supposed to.

Their mowing is consistently great. On the odd occasion (like once a year) that they forget to blow the clippings off the patios, one call will have them back the same day, if you want. Plus, they remember to close the gates to the yard. The french drain they installed works very well and Ruben instructed me on how to periodically flush it. I have also used RMJ to trim bushes.
