"I would like to take this opportunity to address Mr. (member name removed)'s complaints and half-truths. Due to unforeseen problems with the owner’s slab, this project certainly took much longer than anticipated; however, we never promised a “two day job”. It is simply impossible to demo the existing ceramic tile, grind the slab, apply the overlay system, acid stain, seal and wax in two days. Mr. (Member name removed) was having an extensive home remodel performed on his house and what he failed to mention when he states that it took “more than a month” is that due to this remodel, there were weeks where my crew wasn't even allowed to be in the home. Although this was a challenging project for all who were involved, the lines of communication regarding the process were always open between me and Mr. (Member name removed). His calls were always answered and if for some reason, I was unavailable, they were almost immediately returned. Despite the challenges that were encountered, I made it my goal to find a suitable solution that would work for him, as customer satisfaction is always my #1 priority. After I had exhausted all of my resources, I brought in an outside consultant to help address the problem. The issue at hand was a very porous slab with no vapor barrier; these factors allowed for a tremendous amount of air movement up through the slab. I have never seen this degree of out-gassing in my almost ten years of flooring experience (and neither had the consultant with over 20 years). It is truly unfortunate that this condition managed to get over looked. The sad truth is that it wasn't even apparent until after we completed the sealing of the stained micro finish overlay. At that point, we were forced to address the problem from the topside with a “thicker” sealing product that would stay in place and not allow the air through. Those applications ultimately failed (from an aesthetics standpoint) and we all agreed that we would grind the slab back to bare concrete. When the work was performed, a completely different crew utilized 7” grinders with top-of-the-line dust shrouds and 3” hoses attached to a SASE Bull Commercial Vacuum that is taller and wider than most men.(Look it up, it's quite impressive!) There is absolutely no chance that the grinding caused the level of dust that (member name removed) is referring to. In fact, he fails to mention that he had other contractors in the home performing a complete master bathroom renovation (carpentry, sheetrook and plumbing) at the same time and even after we were there. I stopped by the following day to check to make sure the work was done properly but he had already changed the garage code and removed the front door key from the hiding spot. I left him a voice message that day, Tuesday, but it took him until Friday to contact me regarding the “thick layer of dust”. At this point, I felt that (Member name removed) and his wife were taking advantage of the situation but, even still, offered to have their place cleaned professionally with the stipulation that they would sign a release stating that I was done, that they would not hold me responsible for any damages to their property and they would not speak ill of our company online. In retrospect, maybe that wasn't the best way to handle that, but I knew, at that point, I would likely be writing this letter and others, right or wrong, defending my good name. Unfortunately, some lessons are harder learned and as with anything, we have to adapt and move forward. Rest assured, we have now implemented processes in which we are able to detect these types of issues before any work is performed and provide a no-fail solution to our customers. Respectfully; Brad Kinsman"
Would definitely use them again.
