This is my second review and I'm sorry to say that it's going to be very different from the first one. My almost-new bicycle that I bought elsewhere a few months back began developing some rattles, squeaks and creaks and since I'd had such a good experience the first time I decided to bring it back while it was still in the return window to see if I should return / replace it or if it was something that would be cheap to fix like the last time.
It took a few minutes after I walked into the store before I was able to get helped but did wind up talking with Scott and explained the problem. He brought my bike over to the work area and consulted with another employee there who said he thought it could be fixed with a derailleur adjustment and Scott said it would be ready by 5:00 PM the following day.
The next day at 3:30 I hadn't heard from them so I called to ask if the bike would still be ready at 5:00. I was placed on hold for a while (I'd estimate around 5 minutes) after which I was told it would be ready within the next 10-15 minutes. Almost exactly half an hour later I showed up at the store and once again was met by Scott. He took me to the work area where my bike was already on the rack. They then started working on my bike and it seemed as though they hadn't started until I got there despite what I was told on the phone. After a few minutes of fiddling with it, they just kind of shrugged and Scott informed me that only two of the three high gears were now usable and added with a smirk, "That's what you get for buying a bike from Wal-Mart." Was the bike beyond repair or was it that it would have been expensive to repair? I have no idea because I wasn't given any options, so I left with my bike and returned it. I'll give them credit for the fact that they didn't charge me anything, but it also appeared that they didn't actually do anything except during those few minutes after I arrived to pick up the bike.
Scott, for the record I drive an 11-year-old Honda Accord and there are many repairs that need to be done around my house, not least of which is to replace the roof. If you think that everyone who wants to ride can and should pay for an expensive bicycle then you must lead a very blessed life. I lead a blessed life in many ways too, but being able to spend $2,000 on a bicycle isn't one of them. And, quite frankly, after this last experience even if I could afford a pricey one I'm pretty sure I wouldn't buy it there.

I bought a mountain bike online and when I received and assembled it noticed that there was a problem with it that I couldn't fix myself, so I took it to Performance Bike. As soon as I walked in the door Greg came over to help, and I told him what was wrong with the bike. To make a long story short, he not only fixed the original problem (and, as I expected, it was not something I could have remedied myself) but also gave the bike a bit of a tune-up and charged me only $20. I was / am very grateful to him because if he hadn't done that (or if he had wanted to charge me more) I'd have just had to send the bike back and get a replacement, which would have been a major hassle. Not only did I get a great deal for my money, but Greg was also very friendly, explained to me what he was doing while he was tuning the bike, and also gave me tips for maintaining / taking care of it in the future.
In short, this was one of the best retail customer service experiences I've ever had and if this is typical of what you can expect at this store I strongly recommend that you consider giving them your business as I plan to in the future.

They have an excellent selection and all price ranges. They are very knowledgeable about bicycles and how to set them up.
