I did some research on the internet, and found someone who charged significantly less. I took off the face of the clock and was taking off the screws that hold in the movement, I noticed that one of the pieces started to move that control the chimes, and I pushed it around a bit and the chimes started moving again. It’s been working for about a week now. I don’t know if it was incompetence or something else that caused them to tell me that it needed to be rebuilt. I just fiddled around with it and got it working. An experienced clock maker should have figured it out.

He was very knowledgeable regarding the clock. Unfortunately, the problem with the clock was an extremely expensive repair which I needed to think about before committing to. He completely understood, and did not pressure me in to making a decision. He called me later that same day to let me know the exact price of the workings and installation. He was very thoughtful to even call me back a day or two later to let me know he had another appointment in my area soon, so that if I wanted to do the repair he could waive the trip charge. We are still in the process of trying to fix the clock ourselves, but Curtis with King Arthur clock is who we'll call if we feel like this is too over our heads! I've used them for years! I've bought a couple of clocks from them as well! They give us an estimate and have the choice to do it or not. I've never had to make any return trip bc it wasn't fixed! They also gave me a TWO year warranty.

THEY MOVED SLOWLY AND GENERALLY SEEM INDIFFERENT.

We were pleased with quality of service. I am not too pleased with chimes chosen to install and the company did take an awfully long time to complete repair.
