Jensen engineering visited our house twice (2 different services), plus 1 follow-up.  The first time was to inspect the house & foundation & make repair recommendations and validate the foundation repairs after completed.  The initial survey had a directional error (how the house was facing), but Michael quickly remedied this and sent a new version of the report which was very thorough.  The second was to survey the pillars in my kitchen/dining room area to identify if the pillars could be removed.  There was an initial misunderstanding of the recommendation, but in the end everything was sorted out.

This engineering firm, operated by Mr. Jensen, was hired by my general contractor to provide fairly simple engineering plans for a garage addition.  The plans included a note in fine print that stated "piers were recommended" but not required.
I relied on this engineer to provide plans that would result in a garage that did not fail, which it did.
The movement was so severe that the garage separated from the the main house to which it was attached.
It cost my family thousands of dollars and over six months of time battling him to get the foundation repaired or reimburse me for the damage.
He is an engineer and person that does not believe his pencil should come with an eraser.  He refused to accept responsibility for any wrongdoing and is completely unprofessional.
He also doesn't carry insurance so beware.
This is how he talks to his clients:
"Whatever. If your "entire structure" heaved it has nothing to do w myDesign. If your "expert" told u that u may want to rethink what henis saying because he clearly has no clue.  Plus much of your houseJustHad foundation repair so it's  already havingProblems so now u want to blame me? Get real.
I don't have e&o so You won't be able to squeeze them for money. Read the plans...it clearly states to install piers. Perhaps u should ask why they were not installed rather than chase the guy that said toInstall them.  U have no case.
But thanks for trying.

Response from Jensen Engineers
"This client and the builder went against my recommendation to install piers under his new garage. When the new garage settled he insisted it was my fault. In the end he threatened suit, so myself and builder agreed to repair. I paid for piers to be installed and builder paid for cosmetic repairs. Client did NOT pay for the repairs. He is wrong, i have errors and omission insurance (for past 15 years) but have never used it and didn't want to involve insurance on such a small project project where my advice wasn't followed. This was a typical builder/owner who at the beginning of the project opted to save money and not install piers and then later cried about the movement that the piers would have helped. I told them both early on that they could go without piers but that the garage would shift relative to the house. Client is a lawyer and apparently loves to throw his weight around. The quote he mentions on his review was after hundreds of threatening emails from him to both me and the builder. In the end I paid for repairs rather than fight him. Best $3500 i ever spent."

I liked having somebody independent.  In the end they said I really didn't need foundation work; it was cracks and settling issues and I just needed to take care of the moisture problem.
