TIPS TO SURVIVE A NEW ROOF INSTALLATION 1. Expect chaos and noise. 2. Treat the crew to a lunch and some Gatorade 3. Give them a trash bad for all the bottles and cups they through. 4. When the supplies arrive BE THERE to make sure the color is correct, very important! 5.Keep the paperwork for the vents they install, model number etc 6. If you have a mortgage, they a property department that you must stay on top of. Expect different answers every time you ask. 7. Consider new gutters, your old ones won't look the same after a reinstall. But you can paint them. 8.Double check for nails and screws, the guys did a GREAT job cleaning but take responsibility if you have kids or pets. 9. Attics, if you have stuff in your attic make sure you cover it with old sheets or plastic. It gets real messy when you do a new roof.
Description of Work: Hail damaged 2 slopes of roof. Jim from Hometown, doing the roof next door, asked his project manager Stella to come and knock on my door to allow Jim access to our roof. We had just had our roof turned down by our insurance company a few months before so I was not interested. He persisted and I relented. He told me the shingle on my roof had recently stopped being produced so the insurance company would have to replace the entire roof. With that information I gave him a copy of my previous claim and told him he could try but I was leaving town and left the WHOLE process in his hands. Gone for two weeks I returned to find out it was all taken care of and now the process began. First thing was due diligence on Hometown, checked out perfect. Then Jim Otis, likewise people liked him, just wish he could have been around more, he’s a likeable guy. His project manager and Stella were present and worked hard to make me happy. The bank where we had our mortgage did not make it easy. Nothing about the process is exciting or rewarding unless you keep your eye on the ball, “your new roof.” Jim and Hometown helped a lot. The work began and it’s messy, noisy and the crew worked long hours. We found the crew to be polite and tried very hard to clean up best they could at the end of each day. The best decision we made was to hire Hometown. Getting a new roof is like a root canal: necessary, unpleasant, painful during the process and when it’s over a great relief. Jim and his crew did a great job, worked hard and the finished product is gorgeous. Best of all no leaks, no call backs to fix problems. The detail they went to on the ridges and the fireplace cap make the house look great! Jim also installed two solar attic fans and had the company rep meet me at the house to make sure everything was done correctly and the position was optimal. 50+ year shingles, new gutters and covers, lots of extras.

They worked hard to make sure I got what I deserved, in spite of having difficulties with my insurance agency.
Description of Work: The roof replacement was covered by insurance, so I paid the deductible, not the amount shown. I liked the owner; he came by personally to ask about questions I had asked. The job manager was thorough and personally involved. They mediated problems with the insurance company and made sure we got the best roof possible.

We're not getting a response back from the supervisor of the job. The quality of the work is excellent. They did a good job. I would have liked to see the supervisor on site more than he was. It's very hard to coordinate with them sometimes.
Description of Work: They did roofing for us.
