.I paid him 100.00 service charge, the first time he was here. He said I am not sure what the problem is but I will figure it out. Greg said he would be back the next day and if he could not fix it he would refund the $100.00. The next day he was 4 hours late but he did come, could not fix TV. TV would come on but would go off. He told me he needed to talk to a friend that could tell him what he needed to do. Greg did not return the $100.00 and when I didn't hear from him I tried to call him several times and got no answer and no return call. I would never use his service again. .

things went very well; could n't have been better.
Description of Work: Came to my home within 90 minutes to restore my sound bar and picture on my large screen tv. He completed the work. within 20 minutes and then gave me some future problems. He also assured me he would make another visit free if the problem occurred again. .

Description of Work: This guy is great! I was going to throw away a big screen TV and a large PC monitor. Greg took several hours to fix every detail on these two and now they are better than new. He replace capacitors, soldered wires, and essentially rebuilt these for a fraction of what it would cost to replace them. Don't throw away your old big screens and monitors. Get them fixed!

He diagnosed the problem over the phone and walked me through fixing it and did it for free. Great experience.
Description of Work: Called to make an appointment because my 2 year old Insignia tv's sound had gone out. Greg recommended that I try unplugging the tv from the Uverse cable box and waited while I unplugged the tv and plugged it back in and voila!, sound. :) What a super experience. You know I'll be telling all my friends who to call with tv problems from now on. An honest and knowledgeable provider is a delight.

They did a great job.
Description of Work: The HDMI plug on our Samsung plasma had gone out. I had called numerous TV repair shops an d could get no assistance until finding Gem. They came out and did the work and charged me what they had quoted over the phone.

Greg Mackie (the owner) was referred to me by another company. I originally called him because I wanted to see if my TV was worth repairing, as it's not even 3 years old, and already inoperable. Greg promptly returned my call, and listened to my concerns. Once I told him about the problem, he did some research on it, and said it could be one of two things. He was able to come out the next day, and proceeded to take apart the TV and correctly diagnose the problem. He replaced the power supply board, then vacuumed the fans (as well as the dusty outside cover!). All along the way, Greg was very courteous and professional, and gave me a lot of good information. His front office staff was similarly pleasant and accommodating. I highly recommend this company, and would definitely use them again!

Initial appointment: Capacitor was replaced but did not fix the problem. Greg said the system board would need to be replaced, gave us a quote and explained it would have to be ordered if we wanted to proceed. We decided to have him order the board. 2nd appointment: Greg called to let us know the board had arrived and offered to come by that same night. We agreed and he was shortly at our house. Within a few minutes he had replaced the board and the TV was working again.

Horrible!! I expected a thorough diagnosis of the issue and all I received was a quick this is it. They could have told me that when I told them what the issue was over the phone.
Description of Work: The company came out to test a TV (Mitsubishi WS-55511) that I had just replaced. I explained to him that I had a blinking green light on the front of the unit. He took off the back panel of the unit looked in with a flashlight and said I had a bad DM board. There was no testing of any kind. He did not see if anything came loose when we moved the TV, did not use a voltage meter to see if it was a power issue, nothing. All he did was state it would cost $350.00 plus tax to fix.

The owner of Gem Electronics, although he couldn't directly help me overall, was very pleasant and kind and referred me to someone else who could.
Description of Work: I called Gem Electronics about a line running through our LD TV and the owner was very helpful and referred me to someone else who worked on LD TV's even though that wasn't his area of expertise.

He was very professional in his dealings with us. If we ever need additional TV repairs, we will definitely contact him.
Description of Work: Quickly scheduled an appointment. Showed up on time. After inspecting our TV, he told us that we could probably get Samsung to cover it, since it had recently lapsed out of warranty. He told us who to contact and what to say. He told us how we could get him assigned to be the one to do the warranty work, but although we tried, that did not happen.

The whole experience was great. Greg was knowledgeable, courteous and prompt. He was very straightforward and immediately gave the impression of trustworthiness. He also cleaned up what he, in advance, had told me would be a little bit messy of a job. I could not have asked for a better service appointment.
Description of Work: Our 50 inch DLP television stopped working- no picture and just a strange intermittent humming noise. A call to the manufacturer put us in touch with GEM Electronics, an authorized repair service. The appointment was easy to schedule. This was to be a flat rate assessment appointment, from which we could decide how to proceed (repair/replace). I provided a brief, verbal description of what had happened to Greg Mackie, the owner,when he arrived. He explained exactly how he would take the tv apart and what he would be checking. He immediately found the problem, showed it to me, and explained the repair procedure and cost. The problem was a broken motor and it needed to be replaced. This was less expensive than replacing the television, which should have a good bit of life left in it. Greg had the part and replaced it on the spot.

We called him in the morning and he came in the afternoon. He did a very fast and prompt job. I knew what they expense would be and he charged me what I expected. He did an excellent job. I would use them in future if need be.

I called around lunch and Greg was at my house at 6:00 PM. He replaced the bulb in my 50" Samsung DLP TV. He was prompt, cheerful, courteous and he even dusted for me while he had the TV pulled out. He gave 90 day warranty on the service.
