I did not end up contracting to have this company provide any service. It seemed clear to me that they did not actually want my business. I contacted them to give an estimate on some repairs and exterior painting and they did respond quickly and professionally for that part. They set up a time to come see the house and my boyfriend stayed home from work to meet with them. They sent a sales person called Ian and he seemed to be friendly and know what he was doing. After he left he emailed me the estimate and it seemed quite high in price to me. The house is primarily brick so the painting needed only covers the facia/trim etc. I decided to think about it more and possibly get a few other estimates. Ian then called me a few days later on my work number. He wanted to know what I thought of the estimate and I stated that it seemed pretty high to me. He then launched into a lecture about how quality work costs more and if I just wanted to hire" some guy who works out of the back of his truck" I could probably pay less. Unfortunately, at that time, I had an important work call I needed to take come in and asked to put him on hold and this was MY bad- I accidentally hung up on him instead of putting him on hold. This apparently GREATLY offended him and he did not consider the possibility that I had done that in error. I called him back the minute I got off of my call and got no answer, left a voice message to appologize. By that time I already had this email: "You hung up on me, you didn't put me on hold. If you just want the cheapest work done that's not what we do. Thanks anyway. " I wrote back that it was an accident but it was clear he did not want to do any work for me and moved on to the next well rated company on Angie's list. I have now had an other reputable and well reviewed company come out and that estimate covered the same work and repairs, used the same type of paint and came in at appoximately 1/2 the price Ian had quoted. Due to the fact that this was the very first company I contacted via Angie's list, this experience really made me doubt whether Angie's list is actually as useful as I thought it would be

They take care of the problem but charge too much. The price was higher than I would like. They are very punctual, professional and very terrific guys. I just won't use them again because for the same quality of service I can find others.

Description of Work: I had to have foundation leveling. DFW came in afterwards and did all fixing of cracks in walls, painting, etc. They did a great job and I highly recommend Jeff Reiser for the way he watched over and made sure all subs did their jobs well, and came back if there were any problems.

They never finished the job. They did every except a couple of spots of molding and they never did that. They did a couple of extra things that they were not required to do. They kept reassuring me that they would come out and do them, but they didn't. The work that was done was great. It is not professional not showing up, and saying they will do something but never get it done.

The job began February 19 and was to be done in approximately 2-3 weeks. The job was not completed, but we went ahead and paid them just to close it out - April 30, since it had been 10 weeks. We have never worked with a contractor that didn't take any notes. NONE. This is what caused all the issues throughout the time they were working in our home. We had to repeat everything numerous times, and even then, there would be wrong decisions or the information not relayed correctly to the worker. Because of this, we had to settle with the incorrect grout color in one bathroom, a cabinet that had to be redone three times and still didn't get it right, and the master closet door was not installed as requested and documented in email. Once everything had been torn out, and we could see what we were dealing with, we did ask for some additional items to be done or done differently. They were OK with making the changes and even more OK to charge additional for them, which would have been fine. However, you would think that there would be some offer to compensate for all the mistakes made and the additional weeks it took them to do the work. They would tell us they would be by the next day, and not show up, or even better, have workers show up unexpectedly on Saturday mornings in order to get the work done. We were working within a specific time period due to personal illness/treatments and travel. We expected a level of professionalism, craftmanship and puntuality from what we read. When we went to pay the final bill, they had a form they wanted us to sign saying the job was complete. Because we wanted our keys back, we signed the form, but made a note that the work was complete under the circumstances. You would think that the office manager would want to follow up and find out what the problem was, but as of today, May 13, they have not called. They got all their money, got to work us in when it was convenient for them, allowing them to have more jobs, and we didn't get what we paid for, plus weeks of frustration, repeating the same instructions over and over. We should have known what we were in for when we had to edit the sales persons information in the very beginning. Lesson learned. We will never use DFW, and will let others know what they are in for.
Description of Work: Remodel in master bath; remodel second bath.
I am a claims adjuster and that tends to make me a little more critical of contractors than most. I had 5 providers bid this job and I chose DFW Improved because the estimator (Ken) was the only provider to really ask me questions in an attempt to identify the problem with my sinking patio roof. In addition Ken was the only one to give me a line item bid on the repairs. Based on these two factors I made the decision. The rest of the process only reinforced the fact I made a great selection. Before this job ever started I had 4 face to face meetings with the contractors. One of those was with a design specialist who assisted my in picking out the exterior paint color. Excellent choice was made and my 40 yr old house looks new! Some might think this is too much but I benefited from the ongoing process as our repair game plan was altered to better address the issues as more knowledge and facts were developed. Then there was William who was my project manager. William desrves 5 gold stars for his attention to detail and following up with me on my satisfaction through out the entire process. I don't have enough nice things to say about William. He made me feel like this was his only project. And I can't leave out the crew who actually did the work. I work from home and everyone involved was so nice and super patient with me periodically coming out and checking progress and asking questions. The work crew even through in a couple of extras for me like washing my windows when they power washed my house. They put up new exterior lights I had purchased although that was not part of the bid. And two of them even got up on my roof and swept off the accumluated leaves and branches. Again, not part of the bid. These guys even did a great job cleaning up my yard once all the work was done. It has been right at a month since the job was completed and I have not found anything wrong, incorrect nor missed. Only time will judge the quality of the work but I have no concerns with this. I now have found a multi purpose contractor that will see me through future projects and there is only one reason for this: CUSTOMER SERVICE
Description of Work: Exterior siding repair / replacement; replacement of support posts for covered patio, exterior paint
We received a comprehensive proposal that covered all the details after meeting with their sales guy, Corey, and one of the owners, Gary. We then met Scott, the project manager. Once we signed up, we set a date and the DFW crew arrived on time and the demolition of our old tile was done on the first day and the next day all of the marble was installed. The painting was done in a few more days as was the plumbing install work. Overall, the work went smoothly. Scott, the project manager, was at our home to visit a few times a day and when not there, was always responsive to our concerns or questions.Their decorator, Kristie, was helpful in offering suggestions on color choices and tile as well. While not the least expensive, DFW is very professional, understands and is sensitive to homeowners concerns on a remodel and works well with both their own team and their committed subcontractors.
Description of Work: Installed marble counters and backsplash in kitchen, bar and family room fireplace, replaced two toilets, replaced faucets and sinks in powder room, kitchen, utility room and bar and painted family room, kitchen, breakfast room and powder room bathroom. Also installed a large door separating our formal dining room from the area being remodeled and coordinated work to install new cooktop.

Don't call this company unless you want to spend at LEAST $8,000. I called for a quote on a shower remodel and was told they don't do showers for less that $8,000. Most showers are 8-$14,000. They might do great work but a minimum of $8,000 for just one small shower is way overpriced.

I called the client to confirm our appointment. She informed me she would have to reschedule the appointment due to a business trip. We started discussing her shower project. She asked how much a shower remodel costs. Without seeing the shower we could not give her an exact price. However, gave her a price range for a typical turnkey master shower remodel including design meeting, demo, plumbing, shower fixtures, frameless glass, tile material, labor and warranty. At DFW Improved we always provide value to our customers with our warranty, service and quality. I’m sorry we were not a good fit for this client.
DFW Improved and their team of Gary, Corey, Kristie and Chad were a pleasure to work with and exceeded our expectations on design ideas, décor as well as installation and management of the project. All completed within the time frame stated (6 weeks). After all the horror stories from friends dealing with construction, we are beyond thrilled with the outcome and the effortless process DFW Improved provided. While the price points were not the lowest, they were also not the highest. We believe that we got good value for the project. In particular, we want to praise their designer Kristie. She guided us through the design process, bringing us great ideas, options, photo?s, etc. In the end of the day, without her leading the charge, we would never have our current design nor would we have spent as much!!! The good ideas kept flowing and so did our money. But we are very happy with the results.

Worked out great. A little pricey in my estimation, but you get what you pay for. Looks and works great.
Description of Work: Built attached, exterior pool bathroom.
I Love my new kitchen and can not begin to say enough positive things about Juan Benitez with sales and Tony Fuller my project manager. Earlier in the year I had worked with another company to remodel my master bath and did not have a good experience so was very hesitant to start the remodel process again. The quote and planning advice with Juan was very complete and he explained every detail and answered fully every question I had. Tony was beyond wonderful during the actual work process not only with professional, patient communication of events planned, but was always available to discuss any concerns or issues during the process and quick to respond to/change any detail that was a concern. Tony was here daily watching and reviewing the work done and the contractors that were used were very professional while in my home. They will tell you up front that they are not going to be the cheapest quote you get, but they will do quality work and having gone that cheapest route and living with the aftermath nightmare of items being done wrong DFW Improved was worth every penny!
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel that included consultation with interior designer, removal of old tile with install of new tile floors, removal of wallpaper and popcorn ceilings, painting and texturing kitchen, breakfast nook, laundry room walls and ceiling and trim, a new custom cabinet/panty, painting and glazing of existing kitchen cabinets, new sink, faucet and garbage disposal, conversion from electric to gas cooktop, removal of partial fur down ceiling with installation of new insulation over kitchen area only, and replacement of lights with can lighting, removal of laminate back splash and counter tops replaced with travertine back splash with decorative tile over cooktop and granite counter tops, under cabinet lighting and installing light fixtures in nook and laundry room provided by owner. Professional cleaned kitchen upon completion.

Went well. We did ask them to strengthen the header above the door. May not have been necessary but I wanted to look like it did in the house framing book I bought.
Description of Work: They added an insulated door to un-accessible attic from an upstairs bedroom. They had to make an opening and frame it. They placed an insulated door (like the type used for going into an unheated garage) and used matching molding and paint to make look original to the house.

This is the second time we have used DFW Improved. We first used them in June of 2012 to remodel the master bathroom and we liked them so much we used them again in Fall of 2013 to remodel our kitchen. Plus, they were the lowest of the three bids we requested, so obviously that was in their favor as well. Our project supervisor, Ryan, was great. He kept us informed throughout the process and worked with us to resolve any issues that arose. In addition, as with our bathroom remodel, we are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship The only negative thing involved the design that had to be changed mid-stream and this delayed the completion somewhat. However, this was resolved to our satisfaction at no additionbal cost to us. Overall, I would recommend that you give them serious consideration for any remodeling project you may entertain.

Did not do anything apart from being rude to us.
Description of Work: Worst experience with this company. The scheduler / receptionist aw very rude. We have our bathroom in a bad shoe, and requested an early appointment. Not only did the receptionist failed to accommodate the request, my wife wa spoken very rudely to. Really?? Is that how you get business...shudder to think how you will treat us if we do decide in your favor. Btw, just so tht you know, we have 5 other providers who greed to come and give us a quote on a 24 hour notice hearing our request. Will not use them, will defiantly not recommend them. Update post vendors comments. -------------------------------------------- Combative, hung up, really? That says it all about you guys. Definitely not how we remember the conversation. We explained to the homeowner that we are completely booked and the earliest we could come out would be the following week. We are in a very busy season for home repairs/remodeling and there are only so many hours in the day to get to all the estimate requests we get. We would love to get to them all, but sometime schedules just do not allow. The homeowner was not willing to wait and would not understand why we could not accommodate. She became very combative on the phone and then hung up. We wish them luck in their contractor search!

DFW Improved did a good job for us. We were very pleased with their work and the results. They guided us through the process letting us know what was going on, what to expect, made suggestions and answered all of our questions throughout the project. From the salesman to the project manager to the various workmen we had, everyone was professional, courteous and respectful of our property. The project was projected to take approximately 10 weeks and ended up taking 12 weeks. I thought that was pretty good given some of weather we had. We stayed close to budget with only a couple of unexpected, unforeseen costs which is to be expected. All thru the project, if we had questions, didn't understand or changed our minds on something, they were available and worked with us to make us happy. I plan on using DFW Improved again on phase 2 when we do our master bath remodel.
Description of Work: We did a room addition, took out the wall between the kitchen and new addition, had the popcorn from the ceilings removed, carpet removed and replaced with hardwood floors, new tile in all the wet areas throughout, raised landing in the entry removed, new front door, windows, HVAC system replaced, 2nd bath remodel, crows foot wall texture removed and redone with skip trowel and painting done throughout.
Not so well. DFW Improve's project manager was not evident during the work. To their credit, DFW Improved terminated him because of complaints from several other customers. We were not very happy with the subcontractors.. We had a large sofa that was a challenge to move out of the house. They managed to move it into the dining room and they wanted it completely out of their way.. My wife was concerned that it would be damaged if they tried to squeeze it through the door leading to the patio. The guy in charge said simply that it would be done his way! Well, they installed the tile quickly,, but I had to point out some obvious areas that gapped the wall and fireplace: Likely, the job of the Project Manager. The flooring looks fine but, it is too rough. Sliding furniture is difficult and annoying because the rollers get stuck in the grout grooves. Phase I of project (entryway, kitchen, dining room) was fine because the guy made sure it was level throughout. Phase III was just completed (two back bedrooms and small adjoining closet) by a gentleman that had refurbished our previous home in the summer of 2013, The cost was very reasonable-and it was done right.
Description of Work: They removed old flooring and installed porcelain tile in family room and down a hallway.. This was phase II of our plan to use porcelain tile instead of wood flooring and carpeting. This tile looks like wood and we love it.. They also agreed to move around 2 or 3 of our heaviest furniture pieces.

We (DFW Improved) do understand that the job was not managed correctly. The project manager is no longer working with our company, and we truly regret to hear of a job ending with disappointed homeowners. We do tell our staff to get the client to hire professional movers to ensure this type of occurrence does not happen. We do apologize for this experience and ensure internal details have been address to help us get better and continue to learn and improve.

Despite all the setbacks, the team was AMAZING. They showed up and worked on Thanksgiving Day, Friday in December without power, Saturday ice day, and more. They were extremely professional and responsive. Their tile guys were so hard working, very meticulous, and thorough. The tile is gorgeous. The painter was top notch and also meticulous. He went over and above repeatedly. The mirror in the dining room is spectacular. The tile, paint and mirror all together have transformed my home. It looks twice as large. | |I will DEFINITELY use DFW Improved again. And I HIGHLY recommend them for any project--large or small. I am really happy with their responsiveness, their pricing, and most importantly, the quality of their work.
Description of Work: Replaced all the downstairs floors (hard woods and tile) with wood-like Italian tile planks. Replaced two commodes. Removed built-in shelf area in dining room, replaced dry wall, install floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Painted dining room, kitchen, master bedroom. Moved ceiling light fixture in dining room over to new table position. | |The project took quite a bit longer to complete than they (or I) had expected. I had the tile planks laid on the diagonal, so the installation time was significantly longer than planned (or budgeted). There were quality issues with the tile that had to be managed in order to avoid a dramatic delay in completion. Plus the project was underway when we experienced the severe ice disruption in December and my house lost power for a full day. | |

DFW Improved was my big thing for the year. They have high ratings and they stuck to those ratings for me as well. When they came out and gave me an estimate, they were fantastic. They were here for 8 weeks. I think they were a little expensive. They were a little high for what they did. The quality was very good.
