We called Atmos Energy after smelling gas in our master bathroom. The Atmos technician could not pinpoint the leak, but felt that a pipe that looked corroded leading into the house was the problem. That pipe is outside the bathroom where the gas smell was coming from. The Atmos technician had to shut off our gas. We were not looking forward to the prospect of no heat or hot water.
We called Devard's based on a neighbor's recommendation and good ratings on Angie's List and the BBB. Carl arrived at our house within 15 minutes. He too suspected that the pipe leading into the house was the culprit. He removed mortar around the pipe and was eventually able to pull out a section of pipe that was indeed corroded all the way through. Carl's initial effort was not passing a pressure test. So, the next day he had to cut a hole in an interior wall to make the pipe repair. The city inspector passed the repair. Carl did a nice job repairing the mortar outside.
Carl also replaced a fitting that diverted gas to an outdoor grill. The valve he installed is much easier to turn on and off.
Atmos came out again to turn on our gas appliances and restore our service. We were thankful to only be without gas for 24 hours.
