After a nightmare experience with a different HVAC company that was recommended by our home warranty several weeks ago, my husband and I decided to join Angie's list. I can't describe the dread I felt yesterday when our air conditioning stopped working again. Then, I remembered that we had joined Angie's list. While talking with the home warranty company on the phone, I went to the Angie's List website. The first two HVAC companies recommended by the home warranty company were rated a C and F on Angie's List. The third HVAC company recommended was Air Today in Plano. I saw that Air Today was highly rated on Angie's List (with numerous reviews) and felt confident about having a repairman come to my home. Within 4 hours of contacting Air Today, a repairman was at my home. Air Today would have sent someone earlier, but it was raining and we had more storms on the way. The gentleman that came to my home was well dressed and very polite. John found the problem almost immediately. He just needed to fix some loose wiring. John didn't just restore our air conditioning. He also checked the compressor, condenser coil, refrigerant, motor, evaporator coil, condensate areas, and air filter. All of the other air conditioning parts were in good shape. I couldn't be more pleased with our experience!! Thank you Air Today.

Sunday night, we noticed that our main living area was getting a little warm. The fan on the outside compressor was running and the air handler was running but it wasn't cooling. Our bedrooms are on separate A/C units so we were fine overnight, however, we were expecting guests the next day and we were concerned that the 100 degree forecast would make our house unbearable for our visitors. On Monday morning, I looked on Angie's List for a top rated A/C service provider in my area and found that Air Today A/C was not only an "A" rated service provider but was also open at 7:30 AM. I called and got a friendly greeting, explained our problem, and was able to schedule a service appointment between 11 AM and 3 PM the same day. I was told that someone would call 30 minutes in advance of their availability. Around 1 PM, I got a call that a technician (Kevin) was available and he was at our house and diagnosing our problem by 1:30 PM. The capacitor to the compressor for our main living area unit was defective. We were shown the broken part and it was swollen and bubbled on top like a soda can that's over-heated. We were given an approximate price to replace the coil which we accepted, the part was replaced, and refrigerant was checked (it was OK). The other two A/C units were also checked and one of those also had a compressor capacitor problem. A hard-start kit was recommended for the second A/C unit compressor, an estimate was given, and we accepted that repair as well. Our third A/C unit had no problems. We were given an detailed invoice that included a description of work performed, parts replaced, and a parts and labor warranty. We are grateful for the prompt, professional service from Air Today A/C and we will use them again.

The replacement was very good. However, a wire was damaged during the work which damaged the control board. The new control board obtained by the service tech turned out to be faulty. This lead to many hours of frustrating work to find the problem. However, the personnel worked until they fixed the problem. The personnel were very knowledgable. They kept the area clean. The installation was excellent. The company replaced the control board at no cost to us and stuck with the original cost.

They're really prompt, and they're good with communicating when they're going to be late or when they need to change the appointment. They did really good about that. They're also good on educating the client, so they helped they me know what I could be doing so I would not have an emergency in the future. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

This provider was called as part of my home warranty program. There was water coming out of the secondary drainage. The technician went to the house and looked at it. He said the primary drain has back-flow (it is not correctly sloped) so the water due to condensation always went to the drain pan and drained from there. His quote was $200 for fixing the primary drain and $400 for fixing the drain pan. I felt it was way too much for a small job like that. I told them I wanted to negotiate the price so called their office and the service reps said they did not have the authority to negotiate the price. Only the owner can. That being the starting of long weekend, the owner was not available and I had to pay the trip charge of $75. I tried to reach the owner and they never called me back. They just pocketed $75 for nothing - they could have at least answered my calls or provided some kind of tune up or inspection for the money. I would give the technician an A for correctly diagnosing the problem, for punctuality and professionalism. But I would give the management a D for responsiveness and C for overall experience.

Richard came in,asked me what the problem was,listened to my diagnosis(I am a fromer automotive tech) and proceeded to look at the system.He informed me that the evaporator was clean (what I thought was wrong) and that the system was just low on refridgerant.Went out and put what I needed in and left.Was absolutely proffesional throughout the service call.This is the company I will use throughout my stay in Plano.Will probably buy a new 410A system from them in the near future,too.Very knowledgable and didnt try to upsell or mislead.The kind of person you can trust.

They were the only place we called who could come out the same day (it was 97 degrees the day our AC went out), we basically went down the list until we found someone. These folks are very professional, they called to let us know the office was closing for the day but the tech was on one last stop before us and would be on his way (they didn't want us to call and have them be "closed"). The technician was very professional, efficient and polite. Quickly figured out what needed to be done and had us fixed in no time. We will continue to use them going forward for HVAC services. Highly recommended!

My first impression of the service man was that he smelled like smoke, so not a great first impression. He was polite and seemed to do a good job. I had to run up to our neighborhood Lowes to get a replacement filter and he didn't offer to wait in his vehicle while I was gone. He kept working which made me a little uncomfortable, but I'm pretty non-confrontational, so I just let it go. As I said, he seemed to do a good job and he was a nice man. But, I probably will go with a different company next time.

When my AC unit stopped working, I contacted a couple of "A" rated HVAC companies to install a replacement. Air Today was quick to respond. Danny gave me a rough phone estimate and we set-up a time for the next day to do an on-site quote. He arrived promptly and we spend an hour discussing the system. He was very knowledgeable. His quoted price was competitive and he did the installation the same afternoon. The installation process went smoothly and the guys stayed until 8:00pm to get it done the same day. The installation looks good and works well. Air Today is a friendly, knowledgeable, cost competitive HVAC company. I would use them again.

Skylar and Dan were at our home for about 6 hours. They were extremely professional, knowledgeable & courteous. They took time to explain exactly what they were doing at each step and explain to me in detail how everything worked. Very please with how smoothly the installed went it was very stress free. They showed up on time, despite the ice storm that had hit the night before. The installation of the system had no issues except when they were taking it up into the attic they broke a step off my attic ladder, but they informed me of it and did replace the step. I was not hit with any surprise charges, and it has been almost 6 months since installation without any problems. I will use this company again when I replace my other unit.

They phoned prior to arriving. They arrived onetime. He removed his shoes not to muddy the house. Complete the work in a timely manner.

I made a call on one day and Ruben, the service technician, came out the next day. I received a phone call approx. 30 minutes ahead of his arrival making sure I was home and letting me know he was on his way. He was very professional and courteous. He thoroughly explained the work that needed to be done and even spoke with my husband by phone to give him the details. Even though he only came to look at the situation and give us an estimate, he corrected one problem while he was here and did not charge us for it. We plan to have the work done soon and will definitely use Air Today A/C and Heating to do it!

The responded quickly and performed the service on my heating unit to my satisfaction.

The owner provided a bid the same day that he visited my home to review the current installation setup ---- The bid was an excellent price, and the owner was very good in responding with follow-up information when requested.

We have two heaters in our house; one upstairs and one downstairs. We realized that our downstairs heater was not working. When we turned it on, you heard it click on but the fan did not start running. Unfortunately, it was the week where we were in the 30's outside and it was extremely cold in our downstairs area. Upstairs was toasty warm which is where our bedrooms and offices are thankfully. When we called Air Today, they had a technician at our house within an hour because I had told her we had to leave in two hours. The technician told us after just a few minutes what the problem was. He explained it thoroughly and in a way that we could understand. He had to order a new engine for the one heater and would have to come back the next day to fix it because the parts company was closing soon. At that point it was late afternoon. We were going to be out for the evening so it was not a problem to have him come back the next day to fix it. First thing in the morning Air Today called me to let me know an approximate time that the same technician would be out to our house. Then she called again and told me when he was on his way. He came in and fixed the heater with the appropriate part and was out quickly. He even cleaned up the second heater while he was up there at no additional charge. He explained that the part had a 1 year warranty on it and he would file it at his office in case we needed to use it. We used our Angie's List coupon which was deducted from the cost. Overall it was a great experience considering we were not expecting the expense at all two weeks before Christmas. I would definitely recommend Air Today and would use them again should I need to.

The first visit from Air Today in April went OK. A technician added 3 pounds of freon between the two units, and I thought that matter was resolved. However in less than six weeks our AC units started having problems keeping our home cool, so we called Air Today to make another visit on June 27, 2012. The second visit involved a different technician, and from the start he left me the impression he was not totally sure what he was doing. To make a long story short, on the second visit I was told that we had a major leak of freon some place in our system, and he added 7 pounds of freon between the two units and charged me $514.00. He advised that we needed some extensive testing of the lines that would cost $350.00 per unit, or $700.00. AND the next day after this technician left, I discovered he had left most of his tools beside my home next the the AC units. It looked like fairly expensive refrigerant related equipment. I was amazed that after 10 days the technician never returned for his tools, so I finally called the company, and someone came to retrieve them. After the second visit I decided that I would not use this company again. I waited a few weeks and hired another AC company to come check the freon levels, and they found no evidence of leaks. Since that time they have been checked again with no leaks. In fact, it has now been four months, and thankfully the freon levels seemed to be doing just fine. Again, I will not use Air Today again, and feel like the second technician who came to my home in late June was not competent, and tried to get me to do work that was unneeded. In fact, at this point I seriously wonder if I actually needed 7 pounds of freon on the second visit.

our AC stopped cooling one day, and I called Air Today based on Angie's List ratings and proximity. The dispatcher indicated that someone would come by the house within 2 hours and that the service person should call 30 min prior to arrival. The technician, Brian, called and arrived promptly. He looked at the outdoor unit, which was frozen over and told me we'd need to wait to look at it when it thawed out. However he also inspected the internal unit as well. He returned the next day and completed the inspection and verified that the condenser had malfunctioned and needed replacement. Since our AC was about 10 years old, the coolant type and parts to support that type of coolant were no longer available, necessitating an entirely new unit. He quoted out a system, minus the furnace, as it was still in good shape. I asked about higher efficiency units and he recommended a 16 SEER system as the best bang for the buck in terms of cost vs. savings. A few days later, we had a new AC. This happened in mid April. In May, my wife noticed that water had leaked into one of our closets, soaking the carpet. We called Air Today, and someone promptly came out and fixed the problem. There was a part contacting the condenser, if I recall correctly. Of course, there was no charge for the visit per their warranty. After returning from a month-long trip at the end of July, we noticed the house was hotter than we had set system for. After an hour or so of not getting cooler, I called Air Today (on Friday at 4pm, I wasn't expecting availability until Monday). To my surprise, I received a return call a few minutes later indicating that someone would be by that day! The first tech that arrived (I can't remember his name now) did a thorough inspection and was unsure what was causing the malfunction. Despite it being late on a Friday, he stayed and pulled in another tech, Brian, until they figured it out. Brian arrived around 6pm and they both stayed until they confirmed that the air was being cooled properly. Again, no charge. In short, I'm really glad we went with Air Today. Very professional! Their willingness to make things right for the customer, and dedication to a quality job is very impressive. I would highly recommend them for any AC or heating needs.

I am now a repeat customer with Air Today and I will definitely repeat business with them again. This time was also great service, very prompt and they even notify you prior to arrival. One of my compressors was not cooling. They did a 20-30 minute very detailed diagnosis of the problem and determined it was the quick start kit. He noticed the second unit was not shutting off. With my permission, he dug into that issue and found a faulty contact switch. No wonder my electric bill shot through the roof. Thanks for looking out for me. All of this in 45 minutes and in the rain. He even checked the coolant levels and stayed for an extra five minutes to ensure both units stabilized. Good stuff. Check them out. I have been happy with their service.

I called their office after finding them in my area of town. They estimated the time they could fit me in and assured me they would call me 30 minuites prior to arrival. They called before the estimated time and Kevin was right on it and knew after the test of the compressor what the problem was. He quoted me the repair cost of a new motor on the fan and said he had one with him. After I said go ahead he had my house cooler in no time. Very professional service. I'm glad I used them for this repair.

They fixed problems found during the initial visit after explaining what the problems were. Adjusted a problem (fallen insulation blocking airway) and did not charge anything. That proved their honesty which is one of the things we look for. Had the all airconditioners up and running with the maintenance package we signed up for in a subsequent visit at our request. Personnel on the phone and making the service calls were professional, polite and obviously understood customer service. Thanks Angie's List for the recommendation.

Our experience was great from start to finish! I called yesterday when our AC stopped working and they gave us a 4-hour window when they would stop by today. I got a call before the technician arrived at our home. He ran some diagnostics and determined that our capacitor needed to be replaced. He also suggested adding a pound of freon. He ran some checks after doing the repairs and everything was in good order. The entire service call lasted about an hour so the work was done quickly and efficiently.

I am so impressed with this company. They were so nice when I called this morning and they were able to work around my work schedule. The young man was on time and did a great job. Very nice as well. I will recommend to all my friends and co-workers!

Our downstairs A/C unit has a smell when it first starts up and it's hot outside. We noticed the smell after new insulation and spray-on radiant barrier were applied in 2007. In 2009, we replaced both units due to age and hoping that the smell would go away (it didn't). We've had 2 other companies out since 2009 trying to find the source of the smell. We also had our ducts cleaned professionally, but the smell remains. When we turned the unit on, the tech noticed the air was warmer than usual. He removed the return air duct in the attic and noticed a gap between the rafters that would draw in attic air. He repaired the gap, but specifically did not put mastic on due to the smell it might create. He said that if the smell remains, a next step would be to use mastic to seal the repair.

They responded by lunchtime the same day I called. Professional and helpful and quick in and out. Will use again!
