Appliance Master

It was very good. He was very prompt, got the job done very quickly and efficiently.

American Home Shield selected Appliance Master to repair my Viking oven and dishwasher. The dishwasher request was made on a Sunday morning and the oven request was made on the following Monday morning. I had hoped to get them repaired as soon as possible, so I ended up calling Donnie at Appliance Master when he did not call me after 3 hours on Monday. After I convinced him that he had my request, he found it. We went over the details of the problems and he was aware that I owned Viking appliances. He scheduled to come out between 8:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday. On Wednesday, I waited until 11:55am to call and ask of he was still coming, but I had to leave a message, so I let him know that I would have to reschedule since I was having company over in 5 min. He called me back with no apology for his tardiness, and we rescheduled for the next day, Thursday. On Thursday he arrived within the agreed time frame. He mentioned that it was probably the thermostat on my oven as he walked in the door. He went straight to my oven, opened it and said that it was the thermostat and he couldn't fix it. He explained briefly that it requires 2 people to pull the heavy oven out, and since he works alone, he could not do it. That was it...he was there less than 5 minutes. He did not charge me the fee to come out. What irritated me was that he knowingly accepted the work when he knew it was probably the thermostat and that I owned a Viking oven that he could not service. To his credit, he did contact AHS for me so the work order could be reassigned. Now, I have been almost a week with no dishwasher and it will be 2 more days before the next repairman can come. Donnie could have saved me a lot of time and many hours washing dishes if he had 1. admitted he can't service Viking appliances in the first place and 2. been on time to his appointment!

I was given Donnie's name through American Home Shield. My dishwasher was broken, and he came out to take a look at it. Since another company had come out to fix it a week before, I was not charged an additional service fee of $60 for the dishwasher this time around. I had also been having issues with my washer and my dryer making funny noises, as well, so when I booked the appointment with Donnie, I asked him how much it would cost to look at the washer/dryer since he would already be at my home. He told me he would not charge me a trip charge for the washer/dryer. He came out on time and fixed the dishwasher. He looked at the washer/dryer for a total of 30 minutes. No repairs were involved. He let me know it would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $900 to fix both my washer and dryer. The washer's circuit board was going out and the dryer's motor was going to need to be replaced soon. He then told me I owed him $180!!! I was shocked. I said, "$180, for what?" He told me, "well, it is $160, for the diagnosis". I paid the money; however, after he left, I felt uncomfortable about the transaction. I felt I had just been ripped off, and by what seemed to be a nice gentleman. I called him to discuss immediately afterwards, but he says he charges $80 per appliance for diagnosis. Well, that was NOT what we discussed on the phone the day before. I looked on the website, and apparently he "NEVER" charges a trip charge. I was completely misled by this contractor. I didn't expect a freebie; however, I can tell you I also didn't expect a ripoff. Buyer beware. Outrageous hidden fees.

We were led to believe a repair by Maytag would be reasonable, but it turned out to be bait and switch. Donnie, on the other hand, did not have the part, so we had to wait, but he told us straight out what we could expect.

.It was excellent service. They came out on time and took care of it for a reasonable price.

Did a thorough diagnostic checkout of old washer including all parts needing to be replaced. Told me he could definitely fix it and then told me NOT TO HAVE IT DONE. It was not worth the money. He told me point blank - buy a new washer. His advice went exactly opposite to his immediate personal economic interest. I will call his company again whenever I need major work done.

**This repair was covered under a home warranty service, hence the cost of $60.** Mr. Ketchens responded promptly to the service request and even wanted to schedule me quite quickly for the visit. I was out of town, so I had to put him off for a couple of days. He gave me a 4 hour time window, then called the morning of the visit to say he was on his way. He set to work diagnosing the problem and was able to repair it on the spot. Apparently this is a common repair, so he carries a few of the cables with him. (This was not the case with a previous company for the exact same problem a few months before.) He showed me the broken part and and how it had failed. As he was wrapping up the work, he gave me alot of great information on the appropriate cycle to use and some of the dishwasher products he prefers. Overall, this was a wonderful repair visit and I will definitely use him for future repairs once our home warranty expires in a few months.

It turned out it was not broken & he explained to me exactly how it worked. He went above and beyond to tell me things about the appliance I did not know.
