Fantastic! Al is very knowledgable and personable. He gave us a lot of great advice and does beautiful, very thorough work. He fixed a couple of other small issues and made this table look showroom new. I cannot recommend him enough.

Move went great, very professional. Table set up went very well. Al took great pains to insure a level playing surface. New felt looks great. Will use Al again.

It went swimmingly. When I contacted Al about the possibility of buying and moving a pool table, he responded within the hour. Then he suggested that I give him a call when I went to look at the pool table. Which I did, and he gave me some great advice.
When we met to move the table, he noticed that the bumpers were bad. Upon my request for more detail, he cut open the felt (we knew we were going to replace the felt anyway), and showed me how the bumpers were disintegrating. He gave us a reasonable price and time for installing new bumpers. We moved the frame and slate to our house that day, and Al took the bumpers with him to fix them.
When they were ready, he came out on a Sunday and installed the table in our home. He talked us through the process, and answered the questions that my kids asked kindly and with patience.
When he was finished, we had a pool table that looked marvelous (better than when we bought it) and played excellently.
If we need to move the table again, I'm going to call Al. I'd highly recommend you do the same. He's often busy, but if he is, he's worth the wait.

Al was very easy to reach and responsive from the first call I made to him. He is honest, kind, and professional. He was prompt to pick up and drop off the table. The new felt and bumpers seem to be great quality. I was comfortable having him in my home and he seemed to be very knowledgeable about the pool tables. Great experience and I would definitely recommend.

Al showed up on time and did an excellent job putting everything in order so it could be reassembled without dealing with missing parts. I paid him for the disassembly of the table and was going to call him when I was ready for it to be reassembled.
After a couple of weeks we decided that we no longer needed the pool table, so I called Al to see if he might know of someone looking for a pool table. He did and he bought it.

I would HIGHLY recommend Al to anyone wanting the best care for their pool table. We have used him on three separate occasions, 3 moves and one of those times included re-covering the table. The first time we contacted him just before Christmas in 2010, and he came over on Christmas Eve and took down the pool table and safely moved it to temporary storage. Each time we've used Al he has been more than fair on pricing; ALWAYS kind and good to deal with; conscientious of our home, the table, and our time; and always provided good tips and advice for care and keeping of the table (which has been in the family for 30 years). I recommend Al without hesitation, and I know we'll be using him again.

I was very pleased with Al Acosta. He came in and took my pool table apart, got all the pieces in his van, then followed me to my new house, and put it all back together. No problems or issues whatsoever. We've been enjoying playing pool ever since! We haven't noticed any problems at all, and if we would, I have every confidence that he would come and fix them.

Al was great and he is overall just a good, honest and fair guy. He was prompt, professional, and he was extremely flexible working with me and he even made multiple trips over to my house to complete the job. He had the fairest pricing I found, and he did an excellent job! I would highly recommend Al and I will most definitely use him again.

He could have taken advantage of me by selling me something I didn't need (i.e. table cloth). He was very honest and knowledgeable and did an excellent job.

Three days later, on Sunday, we were playing pool and the wall was in the way of a couple of shots because Mr. Acosta had not centered the table like I had asked him to. My husband and son picked up one end of the table (only a little bit cause it weighs a ton) so we could move it about 1-1/2and quot; like I had asked Mr. Acosta to do. It is than that we found out the leg he had damaged was NOT attached to the table at all. We sat it back down immediately and I went to the phone and called Mr. Acosta.
I told him the leg was not attached and now it is slightly crooked because we were going to move the table a little and the leg was going to fall if we did. He said and quot;you are not supposed to move itand quot; I said, and quot;you told us we couldand quot;. ( I have had to move other tables I owned with no problem). I told him the leg was not attached and that he did not fix it when he stripped the bolts out. He said and quot;it was already like thatand quot; and quot;why are you calling me on Sunday, you will have to call me tomorrowand quot; and hung up on me. He was totally RUDE. (his hours are posted in this web site Sunday 9AM to 6PM).
On Monday he called me and retracted the statement about the leg already being messed up and said he had been taking a lot of cold medicine yesterday and was thinking about a different table. He said and quot;I could come and look at it but it doesn't matter because the large legs are hollow and paper thin and it's the weight of the table sitting on them that holds the table up and not a few bolts, so it wouldn't matter if they were attached or notand quot;. WHAT??????. Are you kidding me??? I was furious! We saw and heard him break the leg. I thought he had fixed it but he obviously didn't even try.
All I wanted him to do was come and fix the table. He was so rude that I told him I would just leave an honest review on Angie's List and take him to small claims court. He said and quot;go ahead, I'm pretty much retired anywayand quot;.
I am now going to have to hire another company to fix the leg on my table and re-stretch the cloth. I will no doubt have to spend another $300.00 and probably more as the table will have to be broken down again. This is a $3700.00 table and I'm positive that Olhausen makes a well built table with firmly attached legs. I can't believe how unprofessional this guy is!! Everything I have stated is fact and 100% true. I feel a full refund of my money is the only fair solution.

Response from Al's Pool Tables
"Bottom line is, these people picked up the pool table and moved it over. They should have contacted me first or allow me to do it. I live less than 10 minutes away. I mended that leg when I installed it, but looks like it fell off again when they picked it up. I've seen worse happen when a table is picked up or scooted over. The Simonis cloth was not new. I installed the existing cloth that was on it. New Simonis cloth would have been $250 more. This lady does not listen when I speak. She does all the talking and knows more than I do. Her review should speak for itself. This customer was very difficult to deal with. She was the worst, most unpleasant customer I have ever had to work for. I hope her pool table falls apart"

Al was great to work with from start to finish. He was able to work around our moving schedule and was very punctual and professional. The price quoted was fair for the time and work involved.
Showed up on time and took the pool table apart to transport to new house, where they reassembled pool table. Al pays great attention to detail and did a great job. I would definitely use Al again.

The table is a 40 year old family inheritance made by a company that's no longer in business. He was familiar with the company and entirely comfortable doing a perfect assembly, the first time. His schedule changed and he called in the morning to ensure it was OK if he arrived 30 minutes later than originally planned, as opposed to just showing up late. He cleaned up after his work, he is very trustworthy.

Overall, it was a very good experience. Discussed with Al over the phone and described the situation. He suggested that because the table had been in storage that the rail bumpers would need replacing and that was definitely the case. We confirmed a date for him to come out and he showed promptly on time. Install went very well and very satisfied with the work.

Al is an expert at moving, repairing, refelting and buying/selling used quality tables. I purchased a used table from another party and he made moving, refelting and reassembling it a pleasant experience. He is a very polite and straight-forward gentleman. I felt completely at ease having him in my home. He was diligent and meticulous at his job and very much a perfectionist...I think his measuring tape and his level are his favorite tools! He uses the "old school" method of meltling beeswax between the slate joints and over the screws to make the table surface level and smooth. He wanted to make sure we got the table appropriately centered in the room even if it meant readjusting and moving a floor rug..not an easy task! He took the time to look the legs and rails over so he could put the ones that were the least scratched towards the entrance of the room and even helped me pick out the felt color suggesting one that I hadn't even considered which looked gorgeous! He has been in this business over 30 years and takes great pride in what he does. He even made sure we knew how to brush the table, clean the felt and rack the b****!!! It is an honor to recommend this business to Angie's List!
