PREMIUM FURNITURE & CABINETS

I had this large wall-to-ceiling (6’x8’x30”) closet in the main entryway of the house that was outdated and an eyesore. I wanted to change it into a built-in bookcase with cabinets, so in March I researched on Angie’s list the best furniture/cabinet makers in the San Antonio area. Premium Furniture and Cabinets (PFand C) was one of the top five that I choose to get a quote. Out of the five companies, three gave me quotes - all were within range of each other, so the cost was not a driving factor.

What sold me on PFand C were the owners, Janusz and Barbara. They were on-time for the meetings, listened to what I was looking for in a bookcase/cabinet, and made me feel at ease with my ideas. Right off the bat, I knew that PFand C was different because when Janusz started measuring the closet, he didn’t just come in for 5 minutes and measure like the rest of the companies did (a quick side-to-side, back-to-front, up and down). He took detailed measurements of the entire closet area, in ways I didn’t know you should ever measure a space. And on top of that, he found something that none of the other companies did, which could have been catastrophic to the design of my built-in bookcase. While Janusz was busy doing what he does best, Barbara was doing what she does best – she was asking me questions about what styles I typically liked, what type of woods and stains/colors, appealed to me, etc. She had me go through a book and point out types of styles for doors – shaker, flat panel, etc. You could tell they both knew what they were doing and genuinely seemed to care about what I wanted. When they sent me the final quote, it came with a detailed drawing of everything we talked about. If I didn’t like something or wasn’t sure, I let them know or turned to them for advice. They had no problem changing something or providing suggestions or recommendations.

As the bookcase was being built, Barbara kept me updated on it’s progress. When it was close to being completed, we set up another meeting to discuss stains and handles. When she came back out to the house, she actually brought a large piece of the African Mahogany with 12 different stain samples so I could get a real feel for what it would look like in the home. She allowed me to take my time and if I wasn’t sure about a color, I would ask for her opinion and she was always honest and forthcoming.

On the day of installation, PFand C arrived on time. It took a little over 5 hours to install the bookcase because they had to bring it in in sections. It was amazing to watch as Janusz put it together, because I don’t think I fully understood how large a piece of furniture this bookcase really was, until it was completely put together and installed. Without a doubt, you can tell that Janusz is indeed a master cabinet maker. Words cannot describe the incredible craftsmanship that went into creating this built-in bookcase (you have to see the pictures). I had an image/idea of what I wanted but Janusz and Barbara took it and ran with it – making the final product exceed and surpass my expectations. The bookcase is a true masterpiece of artwork and I cannot wait for everyone to see it as they walk into my house.

If I could give PFand C a higher grade than an “A”, I most definitely would! I recommend this company whole-heartedly and know that you will fall in love with not only the high quality, master craftsmanship that goes into every piece of furniture, but also with Janusz and Barbara.

I would like to summarize my experience with this business with this statement: If you need top quality custom built cabinets, don't go anyplace else. Outstanding experience from start to finish. Excellent response to initial contact and continuous contact throughout project. They took time to call as well as email drawings to be sure they had exactly what we wanted, and then built it. Superior quality materials and top-shelf craftsmanship. Perfect match to existing cabinets design and stain color. Delivery and installation was done with care to protect my home and with a dedication to doing the job right the first time. It is so refreshing to have a business that cares about their customer and understands what quality workmanship is.

The workmanship is exquisite. Janusz is a master-craftsman. PF is a husband-wife team and it was a joy to work with both of them. We met several times to determine the exact wood, color, stain, and finish and the end result was perfect. I designed the beds myself and they envisioned my dream and made it reality. The drawers are flush and perfect. They acquired and installed the pulls I wanted. The lighted headboards were another challenge. PF worked with the acrylic as beautifully as with the wood to make perfect insets and corners. PF installed LED strip lights with dimmer switches that work perfectly but were an extra challenge to gather all the electrical parts needed to complete the job. The install was very smooth because it was meticulously planned for: PF had to navigate stairs, elevators and tight corners without damage. The walls were slightly imperfect and PF made adjustments to mount the headboards and sculpt the frame to the baseboards. I couldn't be happier with everything. I highly recommend Premium Furniture and Cabinets.

It all went very well. They listened to what we wanted, made suggestions and delivered.

We were in the process of building our home when our builder went bankrupt. Having to pick up the pieces and not knowing where to begin is when we decided to join Angie's List in order to find contractors to finish our home building project. We used Angie's List with great success and everyone measured up to their reviews.
If only we could rate Premium Furniture and Cabinetry higher than an and quot;Aand quot; we would. We would give this company an A++. Janusz and Barbara represent more than just a company. They are both very honest and hardworking people. We have used them from our initial kitchen/bath cabinets to more recent jobs such as building a bench around a bay window and wine racks and cabinets for our wine cellar.
We obtained three bids for cabinetry. While all were in range of each other, we chose PFand C for reasons other than price. First and foremost we felt comfortable with Janusz and Barbara. They have integrity and pride with what they do. Janusz is a master European craftsman who does exquisite work. It was a breath of fresh air to see that good, honest, hardworking people still exist. We are thankful to Angie's List and to the customer that nominated this company to begin with.
Like mentioned above, the three bids we had were all in range of each other, but with one exception. With PFand C, we received all soft close hinges (they close themselves) for all cabinets and drawers, true european style cabinetry design and construction, and pull outs galore that would have added extra with the other companies. Not to mention both a light valance and more substantial crown moulding. All these extra perks would have been extra with the other two estimates. Their bid even included installation, which wasn't included with the others. Those and quot;extrasand quot; are standards to Janusz and Barbara.

Janusz and Marcus came to give me an estimate. I was impressed with their professionalism. They then sent me plans for my kitchen drawn by a skilled craftsman. Marcus came to talk to me about the plans and explain all of their process. I told him that I was still deciding. I quickly decided that I wanted them to build my kitchen. I called Barbara and asked her if I could come see some of their work and she said sure. I went out to their home and workshop and was thrilled to see a real professional workshop and samples of the work. I was told that they would start on my cabinets as soon as they finished the job that they were working on. I told them that I was going out of town and that if they didn't get my cabinets done until after September 3rd that I would be fine with that. They called me shortly thereafter and told me that they would have my cabinets by Aug 8th. I was amazed. They showed up exactly when they said they would and worked all day until the job was finished. Rarely have I had such a pleasant experience with hiring people to work in my house.

Barbara is the business manager and Janusz is the cabinet/furniture maker. They are both very honest and perform the work on time. The best part of our experience was the ''quality'' of the work. I am an Architect and in all my 31 years of experience I have never experienced such quality and craftsmanship. Everything was precisely made and fit every space exactly. They are the best cabinets I have ever seen. Anyone wishing to use them for custom cabinet or custom furniture work better get hold of them right away, because they are fairly new in the San Antonio area and will become very busy in the future. This company is top quality!
