We initially worked with Kaye (one of the owners) to get an estimate, and then she worked closely with us to decide on an exact layout, style and design. Kaye was professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. She had great ideas that we were able to incorporate into our plan. Bobby (the other owner) came to the house and took all the measurements. He was late in arriving and seemed to rush through the process. Upon installation, we discovered that the measurement of one section of lower cabinets was wrong - they were too long by almost an inch and would stick out beyond the island wall. One suggested solution was to attach some trim mold and leave it. Other suggestions were to just remove almost an inch from one side of the cabinet onsite or remove equal amounts from both ends of the cabinet unit. We rejected these and made the installers take the cabinets back to the shop to be rebuilt so they would be symmetrical with the cabinets on the opposite end. They obviously didn't actually rebuild the cabinet unit because after installation, it still was not symmetrical with the cabinet it was supposed to match and the base of the cabinet wasn't flush with the cabinet next to it. Once the cabinets were installed again, Bobby told our contractor that they would not come back to make any adjustments. The painters had to add about 1/4 inch of wood filler to make the units line up. I also discovered after we moved back into the kitchen that the bottoms of the upper cabinets were not sanded. It doesn't really show, but is a dust catcher. One thing we didn't catch in the final detailed drawings is the fact that there were only 2 shelves in the upper cabinets. This was what we had in our old kitchen, but the new cabinets were taller and could easily accommodate 3 shelves. I suppose it's a way to get their estimate to look lower than others, and we didn't catch. It's our fault and a lesson learned. We also had them make some corbels to match the cabinets. Those turned out really well and were reasonably priced.
Description of Work: Tri-Tex submitted an estimate for kitchen cabinets in our remodeling project. Once selected, they came to the house and took exact measurements, provided detailed drawings for our approval based on their own measurements, built the cabinets in their shop and then installed the cabinets.
