YARD CONCEPTS

The shrubs and plants seemed small for the price (example: $165 for a crepe myrtle, $24 for a nandina, $26 for a Bouganveilla that never bloomed), but he assured me he got quality plants from a good nursery and the plants I saw at the big dealers had just been fertilized with a lot of nitrogen to bloom and would not last. He never delivered the 2 English Ivy he charged me $40 for, never re-cemented one of the stepping stones, but the worst of all - he charged me $350 for one lattice! The previous 3 had cost $25 apiece. He said he had to put up two pieces of wood to hold it in place. I had asked him 3 times beforehand how much it was going to cost and he would never say - just, "not much, I am not sure...I don't know". He also charged me $125 for labor, yet the man he left at my house finished in about an hour. Mr. Coe did not return for 5 hours! The poor man was sitting outside my house with nothing to do all that time. When Mr. Coe called once I told him the man had finished long ago. To top it off, a week later the HOA sent me a letter telling me the lattice violated deed restrictions and I would have to take it down. When I told Mr. Coe I thought he should move it for no added cost he was very rude and hateful. I told him I wanted to be here when he did the work and I did not want him to leave another so-called-worker. By the way, the "worker" was an off-shore driller. Mr. Coe's mother lives one street from me and when I saw her at our clubhouse the next week she told me Mr. Coe had gone OUT OF BUSINESS! I have emailed him 3 times, sent him 2 Facebook messages, and tried to call him twice. I guess he has disappeared down a hole. As other people have said, he talks a good game, but he does not keep his word. He is not a man of decency or integrity. I had given him a very high rating two years ago - in fact my high rating off-set the F rating from another individual. When I checked with the Better Business Bureau he had 4 "Unsatisfactory Ratings". Sigh. Live and learn.

Excellent work. Workers always on time. Dudley and Joe always there to oversee. Dudley added plants I had not paid for because he thought they were needed. Very polite, very trustworthy, and right price.

Mr. Coe was extremely agreeable prior to collecting a check. He kept telling me how he would work with me in every way, to save me money. He also said he would change the plan as necessary along the way, and would use the plants I had previously, in the design. I never talked with him once after he left for vacation. He showed up at 6p.m. with his bill. He added charges to increase the amount, i.e. (I had 2 yards of crushed granite in the driveway for several weeks. On his itemized bill he charged me $20/yd. to move it over. To add insult to injury, did not move it one bit. My yard is a total mess!! He then threatened to file a lien if I did not pay more. I told him I only wanted him to complete the project. I can only summarize that he thought he could keep padding the bill with additional charges to get more money, i.e., to remove a small shrub, that was supposed to be included in the project, he wanted $45. He had this planned, as he already had the amended bill.
