After interviewing a few other pool companies, my husband and I decided to go with Premier after they gave us a great deal on the type of pool we wanted. Everything went well. My only complaint was that we had to wait for them to return from a trip to have our gas hooked up so we could use our heater...the pool was completed in the winter time. I do have to warn those that are having a pool put in...please make sure your neighbor is ok with the pool. We had issues with our neighbor because of sprinkler system destruction...that was the crew's fault, and fence probs that was really no one's fault. Also, be prepared to have a whole new sprinkler system installed after the pool is in because your existing system will be destroyed by the backhoe.
It went very well. When I told friends and family that I was installing a pool they all said to dig in my heels and get ready for a nightmare experience. It was just the opposite with Premier.
The designer, Sutton, who came to my home to measure and plan out the design was friendly, accessible, and actually LISTENED to what I was saying. I had had three other pool companies come to my home and go through the proposal process before her, and they came back with designs that were not really what I was saying I wanted, and in fact were reminiscent of motel pools from the 50s. Sutton however did a great job designing a pool that complimented my home, my lifestyle, and my neighborhood.
Thurlow was assigned as the job supervisor and he was on top of everything. His knowledge of pool construction just blew me away. Thurlow was also extremely patient with all my questions. Having all this going on in my backyard was like being a kid again, and I was eager to know all the details. Thurlow made the construction fun and stress free from beginning to end.
Even the subcontractors that were brought in along the way seemed to have the positive approach that Premier has towards such a complicated and imposing process.
In the office Dora was like the air traffic controller of the job. Even when I was frustrated with details along the way (like "but why did the rainstorm and lightening shut down the job") she patiently and with good humor talked me through. I honestly don't know how she does it and stay so patient.
May I just say though that the process isn't a walk in the park, it's a huge mess with lots of strangers coming and going, and of course there is the stress of it being such a big ticket installation and the worry that it might not turn out as expected. I'm truly glad that it's over. However the patience, professionalism, and courtesy that I encountered with everyone at Premier Pools made it all worthwhile.
"(Member name removed) entered into a contract with Premier Pools and Spas on July 26, 2014. HOA approval was received on August 11, 2014. The pool was laid out on August 15, 2014 and excavated on August 22, 2014. Her contract allowed for 45 workable working days which includes Monday through Friday and her pool was plastered (the final phase) on September 30, 2014, just 27 days after excavation. [member name removed] sprinklers were repaired and rerouted as per her contract. She sent us an email on October 18, 2014 at 8:49 PM saying she thought there might be a leak and again on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 7:49 am, requesting the leaks be repaired. In the meantime, on Saturday October 18, our superintendent met her at the job and she informed him she thought there may be a leak. He sent a message to our scheduler who was to send out a work order on Monday October 20, until she was told by said supervisor that someone else (not of our company) was already repairing the system. Our superintendent did not tell her to have it repaired. If she and he had discussed having her landscaper fix it, she didn’t mention it in her emails to Dora our scheduler. Our intention was to have it repaired by the contractor that performed the work initially. [member name removed] contract did say “replace sod”. The plan she reviewed and signed, which is as much part of the contract as the actual contract, clearly states she was to receive up to 900’ feet of sod. She was anxious to get her sod replaced and asked our construction manager if we would refund the amount of money for the sod replacement and she would have her landscaper replace it. He told her that would be fine and we were reimbursing her the $600 for 900’ of sod replacement. She tried to send us an invoice for $3000 for 6 pallets of grass. Please note that 6 pallets of grass cover 2700 square feet and costs $107 per pallet. You can verify this by calling Champion Landscape at 281-558-9948. She had her yard completely landscaped and is trying to get us to pay for it. If [member name removed] has outstanding issues with the pool, she needs to send us in writing, per her contract, a list of items that need to be addressed so we can make arrangements to make repairs. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me."
Throughout the process, one of the crews cut my internet cable, and I had no internet or phone for about 2 months. My cell phone doesn't work inside my house so all this time I had to go outside to talk on the phone in the 100+ degree heat, and I had to get a personal hotspot just to use the internet in order to communicate with my husband. That is a story for a different
time though....Then, another crew blew a breaker to my garage which I didn't know about until I went to get something out of my freezer in the garage and everything in it had defrosted. It was full of meat and frozen items and smelled terrible. It had to be cleaned thoroughly several times and wiped down with Clorox numerous times.
The pool was supposed to have been completed in 6 weeks, but took 12 weeks to complete...and there was no really bad weather to keep them from getting the job done. When they built the waterfall, they had left 2 gaps on either side of it that I didn't like, so I called Dora and she had a guy come back and fill those in. The only problem was that they used my very own rocks from my landscaping to fill in the spots instead of bringing their own rocks! I went out and looked and noticed rocks
missing from my landscaping border behind the rocks and I just couldn't believe it...so again, I called Dora and some guy brought me some more rocks.
Near the end of the project, when they sprayed the quartz inside the pool, (which we chose to be a light grey so the sun would
reflect a deep blue color in the water), that particular crew had come back to finish the job and walked around on the quartz as it was curing. Matt (the owner's son and construction manager) had come out to collect the balance and explained to me that no one should walk on the plaster while it is curing nor while the pool was being filled. I had no reason to go down to the bottom of the pool anyway, and followed his instructions to the T. Now, anyone who works in that industry, or has built a pool knows that when the plaster is curing, you DON'T walk on it. Well, another crew had to come out to fill in some holes or do something and went down and walked on it. Matt had told me that once all the chemicals were added to the water it would go away. Well guess what - 1 year later, Istill have huge men's work-boot shaped footprints in the bottom of my pool which will NEVER go away! I have since spoken to many pool industry personnel, who have told me that it's not ever going to disappear! How lovely....
Then, it came time to fill the pool. The pool was all done and being filled but there was a leak. My yard smelled of stagnant water or sewage, and the pool level got stuck about halfway through the process. It took several different people to come out to investigate to see where the pool was leaking from. First it was leaking from one area that caused the water to remain about halfway full. Once they figured that out, it finally filled to the appropriate level. It was finally completely full, or so I thought....then the water level kept going down several inches. I called Matt several times about this and he would tell me to do this or that and I did as I was instructed. It wouldn't stay full. Finally, they sent an underwater diver/pool repair guy out and he found the problem in the main drain at the bottom of the pool and fixed it. This entire process took about 3 weeks. When
it was all fixed, not only did I have men's giant workboot foot prints permanently etched in the bottom of my brand new pool, but now I had waterline stains as well, which willalso NEVER go away!
In the end, the pool is quite beautiful, (except for the stains in the quartz), they did reimburse me for all the food I lost in my freezer, and for the water that I had to keep re-filling the pool with, but only after constant pestering of poor Dora.
An additional note. Some friends of mine decided to have a pool built shortly after mine was started and decided to also
use Premier. Since I referred them, I was supposed to receive a $500 check from Premier as a referral fee as soon as
their pool was begun. Well, I didn't receive that check until theirs was completed. Every time I called about either check,
it was either 'in the mail', or 'sent for approval', or the 'owners were out of the country and were the only ones who could sign the check' yadda, yadda. It was always something.
I'm SO very glad I don't have to deal with them anymore other than warranty work and repairs, but of course, when I recently called and spoke to Jerry who is the warranty person, his story is always 'that doesn't fall under warranty and you'll have
to call a pool repair person out and pay to fix it'. It figures!
I wouldn't recommend Premier Pools and Spas to my worst enemy. In my first year as a pool owner, I've spoken to many people at the pool store buying chemicals, or just out and about who have all said or heard the same thing about this company. Therefore, my grade for them is a big fat F!

RUN RUN RUN from this company
I am seriously considering a law suit.
"Thank you very much [member name removed] for your business, we at Premier Pools and Spas are so glad you love your pool. It was a pleasure working with you to create your beautiful back yard oasis. Thank you, Bill and Yolanda Unger"
Once they were building our pool most of the time went very well, little problem with communication between contractors but nothing to make me upset.
However, once they were done and they had all the $$ all the problems came.
8months after building it the lights went out in my house and the timer went off we were never told how to reset it so I called to have someone come in and they also did not know how to do it. needless to say the 3rd person that they sent was the one that could help me as I wasted two mornings off work waiting for them.
Inspection time : realized that they forgot!! to build a drain pipe so had to come in 10 months after it was done to dig whole in my backyard for this pipe and left it exposed in my front yard with a huge hole and never called to say when they would finish it .
I always have to call them to see when things are going to get done.
Very unorganized and will never recommend it to anyone.
So 10 months later my pool still did not pass inspection due to their lack of communication.

There was not even ONE thing done on our pool that was not redone 3 to 5 times. Final result - poor quality and have to be redone again and again till nothing else can be done. Matter of fact, now we had to drain the spa and repair leaks - we have not even swam in it..The contractors are mostly illegal non English speaking people, which would be OK if they were doing their job correctly and first quality. To most of them what you want is a luxury and the fact you are paying for it does not matter. We actually had one of their contractors tell us- I don't have time to listen to you, I am leaving. And believe me I was not telling him my life story - I was asking him to correct a mistake he did. As I said before, Premier has a very well established Monday- Friday routine. You call them and they will say -and quot;we will fix itand quot;, or and quot;we will call youand quot; or ..., whatever it is, on Friday. Of course, on Friday no one shows, you call them and the answer is - oh so sorry , we did not know we have to come, we will come on Monday. Monday - same story , new excuse. We had 3 different superintendents on our job - none of them was of any help.
If you are expecting any professionalism from those guys - think again. Like I said- they had to redo every single step of building the pool at least 3 times- no kidding- some of the things- like the in-pool table - had to be redone 5 times. If you come and see the table now - still crooked and sticking 1-1 1/2and quot; over the water from one side, the other side is immersed in the water.
Premier does not have their own workers and crew. They have subcontractors. Every sub finishes a specific task - from point A to point B. That would be OK if done with the understanding and care of who comes next and what the next step in the construction will be. The plumbers do just that - plumbing, so for example, there was a tree very close to the pool wall that had to be removed. Because it was not their job, the plumbers left the tree there and installed the pipe around it. Guess what, few days later comes the deck guys and starts pulling the tree out .. You guessed it - the deck guy did bust the pipes so the plumbers had to come again, dig again to fix the plumbing. This is just a small example of the unprofessional behavior. Everything was done with no attention to detail and quality. Those guys, not just took our money but shortened our lives by at east 5 years.
We continue the saga and horror of building a pool with Premier- the pool is leaking. I told the superintendent and the owner of the company that we are loosing a lot of water daily and that the back yard is soaked. They kept telling us - It is OK, it is windy, it is normal. I had a pool before and I do have a clue- 1-1 1/2 and quot; a day is a lot. Almost two months later we got a response - they did and quot;the bucketand quot; test. Sure enough - dif between the evaporation in the bucket and the pool 3and quot;! They sent a crew of 5 people - none speaks English. There is no one to tell you what are they doing, how will they fix it etc. There is a hole in the drain that allowed all this water to spill all over my yard. The superintendent told his office that he tested and insulated the leak and he knows it is in the spa. Another lie of course- the guy never showed up but to fill a bucket with water and leave.
I can go on and on and on. .. The kitchen island - Oh my God. I wish I can publish pictures so you can see the sloppy job done, the splatter of mortar allover, the gap between the and quot;build insand quot; and the island, the gap starting at 1and quot; at the bottom and going up to 2 1/2and quot; at the top ( the gap is between the fridge and the island) They charged us $8,000 just for the island , not including any equipment. If we had the slightest clue that this will be the case we would have never ever ever chosen Premier.
Lets talk warranty- they advertise that the company gives you 3 years and quot;bumper to bumper warrantyand quot; - what a joke. So, after the pool is finished I kept asking about warranty documentation. After a month of constant nagging I receive a scanned copy of a brochure that just mentions warranty- no terms, no conditions no official start date - nothing. I mean nothing. So I started calling and e-mailing again requesting official document with all the terms. two months later , today, I still have nothing. The receptionist promised to send me something written on the company's letter head- still waiting. The story given was - that the plaster company will send the warranty information directly to me- of course a huge lie. The next week , the explanation was that the plaster manufacturer will send me the warranty after 60 days! That was actually the owner of Premier that told me that story. So I continued to ask for the warranty. Finally two months after plaster was done I did receive a scanned copy from a binder ( you can see the three hole punch on the sheet). The page is from a mass produced form given to all plaster authorized agents and installers. It is a fill in the blanks document that specifically states- The owner MUST sign the form and mail to the plaster company 30 (thirty days) after plaster installation or the warranty is null and void. So I have no warranty on the plaster
I sent 3 mails and no answer whatsoever from Premier.
My next step will be contacting a lawyer .
Do yourselves a favor and run run run from this company. I will be more than happy to supply pictures and additional information.

"I am so glad to hear your project is going well (deleted member name). You will be enjoying your backyard oasis very soon. If you have any questions please let us know. Bill an Yolanda Unger 713-436-4944"
So anyway, we did have a few hiccups like this with our project (which could of been avoided IMHO if there was a little better communication and over site with the different crews that came out with our field rep). BUT each issue was addressed promptly and corrected or changed and then we moved on to the next step of installation. Whenever I called their store in Pearland or Dora their dispatch and scheduling person, both ALWAYS answered the phone, listened to my questions or concerns and promptly addressed them. Now to be fair here, because our backyard is small things had to be tightly installed and careful....like: landscape drainage lines and where they go (this was critical to satisfy HOA requirements and our own safety and not flood our backyard) where the electrical switches go, the equip. pad had some special requirements, we had to stay 7' away from an existing easement which posed some challenges and so on and so on. But I will say, EVERY crew that came out to perform their special function of the project were very nice, very professional and went the extra mile to accommodate my concerns and adjustments that had to be made. These were some real top notch crews.
The pool equipment installed is all computer menu, state-of-the-art Jandy equip. It was installed around the back corner of our house to where and how I wanted it on a custom poured pad to accommodate drainage issues on that side of the house. The equip. is next to our master bedroom closet wall and It's very quiet, cannot hear it in the house OR outside in the pool or on the patio, very energy efficient, variable speed and easy to maintain and monitor.
From the time PPAS started excavation to when we had water in the pool was 33 days which I thought was pretty darn fast but we had really good weather too. PPAS also supplies Pool School when the job was completed. A fella comes out twice, one week apart, and first sets up initial chemicals to begin stabilizing your pool, hooks up the pool sweep, labels all pool equip and goes over with you how to operate equip and maintain pool. They also supplied a telescopic pole, 50/50 brush and net to manually clean and brush pool.
When the construction was finished I spent the next 4 weeks myself, putting the rest of the backyard back together, power washing the entire property, painting the exterior of the house, new fence, new patio cover and a myriad of other items we decided to do to complete this process.
Having this done is a major construction project and will turn your backyard upside down for awhile. It's not just the pool installation, but everything prior to construction that has to be done and post cons't stuff that has to be done. But for us, now that everything is over and we sit in our backyard contemplating what a transformation our backyard has taken, we're VERY happy we did this and wished we had done it a few years ago. We spend a lot of time on our patio, only now we have beautiful pool, some great parties and some soothing quiet times.
With some of the nightmares you read about pool companies, I can say PPAS was a very good choice and I'm glad we chose them as our pool company.
"[member name removed] we are so glad you love your swimming pool, you and your family will have many years of enjoyment. Please let us know if you need anything."
