I was told that the construction time would be no more than 8 weeks. Took almost 4 months, and had to deal with a lot of nasty comments from the owner and his daughter who are very unprofessional and treat customers as if they are doing you a favor. I had people come by and ask me how things were going, as they were considering building a pool, and I told them to pay a little more and not deal with these very unprofessional people. They destroyed my yard, and then pointed to the contract saying that only one pallet of grass was covered. They dug the pool and then didn't come back until the next storm, as they had too many jobsites going at the same time and they couldn?t get to mine, so I had to pay for a cave in (another cost I found I had to pay according to the fine print in the contract). They built a weeping wall and I had to deal with a very disturbing conversation with the owner who called me a liar and someone that would never be happy, no matter what he did. Of course, after talking to his daughter, who confirmed my facts and the sales person, who confirmed he forgot to cost the back of the wall, he did take care of the wall at no charge and never apologized for treating me the way he did.
The sales person that came (Steve) told me as a big selling point that because they were a landscaping company, they are great at leaving the yard the way they found it. I bought another half a pallet on my own and put grass back in, and still don't have all of my yard back to normal.
Once construction started, no one, other than their foreman (who was under extreme pressure due to the number of jobs going) ever came out. I have a stain at the bottom of the pool, that hopefully will be repaired someday or not, they of course never saw it as they never came out, not the owner, not his daughter( the project manager) nor the sales person. No one ever called to see if I was ok with how things turned out. They sent a kid to do pool school, which took him about 5 minutes, and made it so difficult that we ended up hiring him, until some friends came out and helped us understand how to maintain the pool.
I probably will never build a pool again, and if I do I would never hire this company.
He seemed the most sincere of all of them, plus his proposal was in line with our budget.
We went with Curt and couldn't be happier. All was done as promised, no major 'surprises' that you begin to expect with contractors and the job was completely finished. We did not have to bug him to come back to finish anything as he did everything he said he would.
I would not hesitate to recommend Curt or his crew at Horizon pools for any project you need a great job on. Thanks again!!
