One section of galvanized pipe was not replaced the first time. This was found as part of looking for the leak mentioned above and replaced during the repair of that leak.
The workers in the initial job left black stains, apparently grease, on a section of upstairs carpet. This was pointe out on a "Quality Survey" card shortly after the initial work but before the leak was discovered. They never replied to that card.
That rubbed me the wrong way so I called AQP. They sent out John Stubbs and another plumber who arrived quickly, looked at the broken pipe and explained the situation and submitted a written bid. I told them to go ahead and they quickly fixed the pipe at a reasonable cost. I had an issue with the toilet and they fixed that as well while they were there. They were courteous and respectful, and explained what they were doing and I'm definitely going to call AQP for all my future plumbing needs.
I've been thinking of redoing my plumbing with Trex and if I do, I'm going to call AQP.
BTW, you can request particular plumbers, and I absolutely recommend John Stubbs.
A sad update. The toilet fix did not work, it ran all night after the plumbers left. I called the next day and they sent out the same plumber. He told me that he had been trying to economize and did not install a particular part. I told him to fix it and he did, but then presented me with a bill for another $100 or so.
I had hoped that the company would waive the charge and credit my account, but yesterday, the second charge went through.
We called them on a Thursday afternoon after our neighbors notified us at work that we had a leak. They came in and immediately stopped the water flow to the tank Thought they could put another 50 gallon water heater in. Would have done it that night, but we asked them to come back Friday morning. They were here on time and after making a further assessment, determined that they could not get a new tank in the attic, nor could they get the old one out without ripping a hole in my ceiling, Gave us all the options and we chose the tankless system. Unfortunately, their supplier sold the last three that morning, so we had to wait until Saturday. Our plumber, Mike Thompson, was here on time and kept us informed every step of the way. They were neat and professional and worked tirelessly in a tiny space. They did a great job and we now have "on demand" hot water everywhere. Can even take a hot shower while both the dishwasher and washing machine are running. We are very pleased!
Saturday afternoon, I called Affordable Quality Plumbing. They were less than 5 miles away and open Saturdays. Unfortunately, their staff were commited for the whole day and could not get to me until Monday. We set a 8:00am-10:00am arrival time.
The plumber arrived at 9:15am. He took a look at the situation and made his recommendation for what he was going to do to fix the problem. I accepted and agreed to the cost estimate and work. Once he was done with the work, he stayed a while to be sure the new work was good and water leaks developed.
By 10:45am he was backing out of my driveway and I had hot and cold running water in the house.
The cause of the break/leak was due to prior water line work by another company that put excessive side stress on the PVC-Metal pipe joint.
The AQP plumber assured me the new work should be good for many years.
I have already recommended AQP to a friend it appears has some leakage problems thru her foundation. AQP can handle the big jobs.
