STAR MONTESSORI SCHOOL & DAY

My daughter was only there for a week. The first couple of days were fine but after that she would cry like crazy when I tried to drop her off. Initially I thought it was normal and would only take some getting use to since she had never been left alone with strangers. However, on the 4th or 5th day while dropping her off and checking in with the assistant on how she was doing, the assistant expressed serious concerns to me about how other teachers were treating students. She said the teacher across the hall would throw shoes at the children (who were in my child's same age group!!). She also said a teacher down the hall had pushed a child against the wall causing him to break a tooth, but that the director and the assistant director (who happens to be the director's sister) had covered up the incident by telling the parents a different version of what had happened! The assistant even went as far as to tell me she had 7 kids ranging in ages from 20 to 2 years of age and that she would not take them or enroll them in that institution even if they told her she could have them there for free! She assured me nothing had happened with my daughter. I was so in shock I initially left and then came right back to pull my child out. When I spoke to the assistant director she told me that the information I received was not true, but did confirm there had been an incident with a child and that he had broken a tooth. She said she would talk to the director and that she would have her call me. After a long discussion with her and about what was possibly going on there I left. I took my daughter to the doctor as she had a previously scheduled appointment. As I was walking into the doctor's office the director called me ranting and raving telling me how dare I make such accusations and that she had video surveillance I could have looked at if only I had asked to. I told her I would like to review the videos, but that I was getting ready to walk into the doctor's office so I could not really talk....she didn't care and kept going off. I told her I wanted to schedule a meeting to come in and sit down with her and the assistant who told me about the incident, but instead she had the girl in her office and put her on speaker-phone. The assistant had the audacity to deny anything she had told me!! When l questioned her about the things she told me she stayed quiet and then said it wasn't true and she had not told me anything. I asked her to explain to me how I would have such specifics about an incident with a student I had no way of knowing about had she not told me about them? I was sickened to my stomach at the way the entire situation was handled. I only wanted to better my daughter's educational future and I thought what better way than through the Montessori method? Star Montessori left such a sour and sickening taste in my stomach!! Not only will I NEVER take my daughter back there but I will NEVER, EVER recommend it to ANYONE!!!! Now if anyone asks about it, I tell them about my horrible and completely unprofessional experience.
