I had a problem with payments to this provider. At his request I left payments by check under my door mat. He mowed on April 14 and I received a text from him that the check had become wet and he needed a replacement check. I provided the replacement check the same day. A few days later I noticed on my bank statement that he cashed the check that he said was too wet. I texted him to ask if he still had the replacement check and he told me he shredded it. However the next time I reviewed my bank statement I saw that he cashed the replacement check on the same day he told me he shredded it.
When I texted him and asked for an explanation he wrote "it said it cashed it for $40?" I asked him to either provide another mowing or return the extra payment. He mowed several days later. I don't think I should have had to ask him to remedy the situation; he should have offered, and an apology would have also been appropriate. I am now using a different lawn care provider.
