We had fencing and two double gates installed across the circle drive of our house, using US Automatic hardware at the insistence of the contractor we hired. The contractor is actually on Angies list but has disabled comments...We were not members at the time we hired him. We hired him because he had installed fencing around our home, it looked good and the City Permitting office staff new of him and said he was well known. He claimed to be a authorized dealer of US Automatic gate Systems. Later after the job was installed (and he was paid in full) the gates would not stay shut. Whenever a large truck would go by, a bus, Fedex, or even a Toyota, the gates would both swing open...The probes (which he sold us) that automatically opened to allow vehicles to leave without clicking a button, were installed too close to the road and the traffic was setting them off...Not good. Being a "authorized dealer" he really should have known this not so little fact. Needless to say, thousands of dollars later, our property was still no more secure than it was before we installed the gates and fencing. I asked the contractor to please come out again...Take the probes out and install a push button (sold at Lowes) which is weather proof that would allow my guests to push the button to open the gates to leave. What he installed was a car garage clicker on a pole in my flower bed. He left one probe in the ground disconnected and the other connected and as he left he told me to not call him...The next day delivery truck drove past and my gate opened. It was the last straw. The following day I contacted US Automatic to learn they had never heard of this "Authorized Dealer." They did refer me to Larry Wells who IS a Authorized Repair and Installer with them and he did come out to look at my gates that afternoon. He bought the incorrectly installed probes from us. I was worried I would have to find a home in my garage for them. He took out the ridiculous clicker disaster and replaced it with a beautifully installed keypad. He changed many things with my gates. As a matter of fact, the minute he drove up, he whipped out a screwdriver and started adjusting the settings...HUGE difference. I HIGHLY recommend Mr. Wells. He is a very nice man. Very professional. Well spoken. Clearly, he knows what he is doing. We are not happy that several parts that were in our brand new gate system had to be replaced by Mr. Wells, they were not put in correctly and were already not working correctly. Perhaps, that is why my gates were constantly not lining up, yada yada... We are very happy that we finally have a gate contractor that knows what he is doing and actually wants me to call him! Not only did he restore faith in my fences - but he restored faith in US Automatic in our eyes. Up to this point, we had pretty much decided that all the hype about those gate systems being the cats meow was pretty much BS. US Automatic should give Larry a bonus! We give Larry Wells 5 stars!
