be unaware of what needed to be done. In fact, he didn't have an upholstery head to work on the chair and ottoman but said he would return in the afternoon with the tool. He never returned, nor did he call to say he would not be returning that day. (The next day he told us that he?d been really busy with another account and was
unable to come back).
When he did come back, he had the upholstery tool and completed what we?d requested. But, after cleaning the hall carpeting the first day and again on the second day (because we complained about still being able to see dirt tracks), he told us that
wasn't dirt, it was matting down tracks. Then he talked about dirt still in the carpet. (He?d done this a couple of times during this period ? said at one point there was dirt, and then in the next breath, there was no dirt.)
Regarding the hall, he said that they had a special process that would lift the fibers of the carpeting and, therefore, eliminate the tracks. This process was normally an extra $30, but the technician said that if we weren't satisfied that the tracks were gone, he wouldn't charge us the $30. We still had the tracks.
The carpeting and upholstery seemed much wetter than usual (we've had this done countless times over the years) and there was standing water on the tile floor near the carpeting that was never wiped up.
We talked to the owner several hours after the technician left to complain about the amount of water that was used. He said he?d send the man back and we told him we didn't want him back in the house. The owner apologized but explained that the technician was relatively new. He added that the technician obviously needed more training. He also offered us a discount for future work.
We?ll take our chances with another cleaning service the next time.
