Jim's Transmissions

Took truck in to Jims in May he said he was gonna rebuild transmission. We picked it up and drove it for a few weeks. We took it back to Jim cause it was just not driving right. About a week later we picked it back up and paid more money for more repairs to the transmission! We drove it for about 10 days and then the truck just would not drive one day and left my husband and my daughter on the side of the road. So my husband called Jims and his wife answered. My husband told her everything that was going on and all she could say was "umm ok!..so my husband paid for it to get towed back to Jims Shop on a Sunday afternoon! We drove by everyday and the truck set right where my husband left it till Thursday afternoon! The part that was being replaced was a transmission pump witch should of been replaced when the transmission was rebuilt! We picked up truck...and one week later today it died again and transmission light came on! Called and complained and basicly i was told oh well sue us.
Now we're paying another transmission shop to do the job right.

The initial interaction with Jim went well. We agreed on a price that was fair and they got started. when I picked up my car, there were issues with the throttle body not being properly adjusted (the engine wouldn't idle). They quickly addressed it and I drove it home. Subsequently, an issue occurred with a valve stuck in the valve body (I wouldn't shift properly). I had to bring it back for 1.5 days to correct this issue.
It seems to me his shop tried taking a shortcut in the rebuild and it bit him in the wallet. Whoever worked on it, should have torn the transmission completely down, inspected all the components, then replaced parts accordingly. Lucky for me this was a back-up car and I didn't need it for my daily drive.
I gave them a 'C' as the cost for the repair was the lowest I could find in the area. Most quotes were between $1600-$2000 plus parts. I assumed the inherent risks with a repair like this, so I was prepared that there would be issues. in the end, my car's transmission is working properly (so far) and I pocketed the savings.

Their prices are low and very reasonable. He gave me quotes before he did the work and I got good results. I've been to him twice.
