The Villas at Spring Park

This is probably the worst apartment complex in New Braunfels, not only for the way it looks, but for the way it treats long standing tenants. My son has lived there for six years. Three years ago he began complaining of defective and worsening air conditioning. Keep in mind that this complex is probably 20 to thirty years old. This summer, the AC got about as bad as it gets. My son spoke to the absentee landlord in California about it and was told that the defective unit was his fault and that he had to repair it at his expense if he wanted cool air. The filter was changed on a monthly basis. Air temps in side were around 95 to 100 degrees. Under Texas landlord tenant law, the tenant may vacate the premises and void the lease, repair the problem after giving reasonable notice to the landlord, or sue. My son want to repair it so he have written notice to the landlord. The landlords response was to retaliate and give notice that the lease would not be renewed. My son is also a landscape specialist who built a beautiful garden on the property several years ago. The lanlord also gave notice that the garden will be demolished. This is further retaliation. My son also gave notice to the landlord that the roof had a water leak and water dripped into his second story apartment when it rained. The landlord completely ignored this complaint. Avoid this complex. He is about to file suit against the property.
