I do not recommend this company for new construction jobs. He may be ok for small repairs, but it became apparent that Alaskan is not set up to handle much else. Perhaps this job was just too much for him or his company. He had employee problems, time management problems, money problems, etc. We tried being sympathetic and tried to work with him, but after a while the excuses and damage to property were just too much.
From the start of the discussions/bid, we were never given any type of formal bid or agreed upon amount. Everything was just verbal. We were assured by the owner that all work we wanted done...he could do... no problem. It took us over 7 months of trying to get work done before we finally told the owner we no longer wanted to continue with his services. And even then, there were things we had asked him to do that never got done. And the work was not finished when he left. It was apparent that he just wanted off the job.
There were inconsistencies during the install. A lot of our electrical was designed to be exposed so being neat, consistent and conscious of that fact was extremely important. This was conveyed multiple times to the owner and his employees. Work done by the one or two employees he had was sloppy and poor. Damage was done to our structure in more than one place where care and planning was not done. Most of the damage could not be repaired. Framers had to try and hide or cover up mistakes made by them. This leaves me concerned because if I found the visible damage and mistakes, what was done within the walls that got covered up?
We have recently discovered that one of the electrical fixtures/switches are not working. I contacted Alaskan requesting them to come back and look at the problem. As usual, they told me they would be here in a day or two. They never showed up...never called. The problem remains.
We had hoped to use Alaskan for our new ac/heat install but with all that had happened, we did not have the faith nor trust that the job could be done correctly or in a timely fashion.
I would recommend you be very careful with this company and what work you ask them to perform. Also, be cautious on the timeframe. They will tell you what you want to hear and then may have trouble delivering.
