We hired Long Construction, LLC, to remodel a bathroom in an older home. The two owners of the company are Eddie Long, Jr. and Chris Burleson. The workers (mainly the company owners) lied more than they told the truth. The only part of their company we could depend upon to be working was their billing which they did with lots of phony charges and errors to their advantage. The project began with a large purchase of materials being made at a Home Depot store. For that, we were presented with the bill & payment was expected for 100% of those costs. Two items were included that were never picked up from the store. One of those, for $1,200. was the glass costs for the shower. The glass was never ordered. The other was Roppe Hardwood Kenya for $149.80. It was reportedly ordered by Home Depot but never delivered to the Long Construction company. The project began on Sept. 10, 2021, and they finally ended the job in mid-Feb by not responding to our sent text messages or answering our telephone calls. The workers, mainly Chris Burleson, consistently never showed up on time, and from the start came to work 1-2 days per week and then sometimes left after 2 hours with no explanation not to show up again for 5 or more days. They could come up with more excuses for not working than what I would expect from a full-time drug user even though, except for the vaping, I did not see any other form of behavior related to substance usage. By November, their amount of work per week had deteriorated to the point that I began writing on a calendar each day the excuse that was given for not coming. That record shows them working 4-5 days total for the month. Every part of this project was flawed, from the electrical wiring to the unfinished sheet rock, leaving a 10-12 in gap open between the walls and the ceiling. They convinced us that they would only complete the project if we paid the total amount due. And, that they would complete it. They took our money and then stopped responding to our text messages or answering our phone calls. Eventually, I completed some of the work that I could do and then, we hired another contractor for a one-day weekend of work who completed most of what had to be done. However, the tile remains, a horrible mess. Everyone who sees it remarks what an awful job it is. Spacing of tiles is off,, in the corner the lines do not match, etc. If I could convince you of one thing: DO NOT HIRE LONG CONSTRUCTION.
