started out ok, but soon after start....builders changed electrical subs, his pool builder built half the pool and then went out of business. (we are still having some issues with poor design)(pump runs 24/7), his a/v guy was scruffy, took over 7 months to ALMOST complete., only to have three independent experts come to evaluate and estimate finish. (He also abandoned his company name shortly after 5/2011, to protect from lawsuit???) All three independent experts wanted to displace all existing equipment, since it was used and out of date, which is what we ended up doing.. We signed the typical "GHBA", builders contract, which clearly states that any disputes will be resolved by an arbitrator. THERE IS A REASON THAT THESE BUILDERS HAVE THAT CLAUSE IN THE CONTRACT. i had my attorney review, in which he pointed out the fact of arbitration......and of course the builders going...Its just to keep it out of court system, which none of us want to be involved with, so we happily agree, knowing that there shouldnt ever be a dispute that big RIGHT.....WRONG.....that clause is in there, to protect builders. we went to arbitration, although we found out it is extremely rare for the poor ol homeowner to win anything. "The arbitraitors make their money on the GHBA, so I wonder where they tend to lean on their decision making". nevertheless, we were awarded a large judgement against the builder, but he hasnt paid the tab, and its overdue. One more thing, had i checked the finacial status of this builder,Glenn King and Kingman Homes, prior to starting my multi-million dollar home, theres no way I would have ever started wrting checks to this guy, he was living on an credit card, and soon defaulted on over 4m in bank notes............all the while he was building himself a brand new home???????
Description of Work: Hired contractor to build custom home on family land. Estimated build time was 12-18 months (10000 sq ft). Took right at 2 years, builder was dragging it out. During final A/V installation, Kings subs were installing media systems for 7 months. We brought in experts to evaluate the system (170000.00 by contract). Three different custom A/V experts came in, and found that nearly every bit of the "sophisticated stereo and theatre room components were USED. Some as old as 8 years according to serial numbers. The experts agreed that the equipment installed would never be able to work together, because of age of equipment. Long story short, builder has denied, and we are in the courthouse trying to resolve! The 20k audio
