After a phone estimate where my mom requested a bid for a new electric heat pump, she accepted his bid for the electric unit. A technician came on Monday to install the new one. She walked by the unit and saw an open butane line and asked him to cap it. He said that he was about to connect the butane. She told him that she had agreed to an electric heat pump. The technician apologized and said that he would come Tuesday and replace the butane unit with a new electric heat pump. He came on Tuesday and took out the butane unit and said he would be back on Thursday to install the new electric heat pump. When they didn't show up on Thursday, my mom called the owner and he said that he was not coming to install another unit. He said that he couldn't afford to absorb the cost of the wrong unit. He had planned to send her a letter explaining this. ( A letter we never received). He also acknowledged that it was his mistake and that he was sorry. The family that had recommended him also called him and he acknowledged to them both that it was his mistake and he was sorry. He also told them that he couldn't afford to absorb the loss. Sorry just doesn't make things right. My mom is 81 years old and had to do without air conditioning in 90+ heat for over a week until we found a professional company to bring her a new unit. Before they stripped her old unit she had some air conditioning at least. They left her unit laying in the yard. Others were here and witnessed the phone call where Web said that it was his mistake.
