A few weeks ago I was warming up my truck in the drive and heard a subtle "pop" noise and noticed a 5-6" crack at the bottom edge of my windshield on the passenger's side.I called the warranty line and made arrangements for a tech to look at my truck and replace the windshield under warranty.
I did some reading before hand and learned that Safelite basically never replaces a windshield under warranty. There were many stories about all manner of weird and wild reasons a windshield wasn't covered. So I wasn't surprised when the tech, a very polite and professional young man, pointed to a speck on the windshield about 1/3 the size of the head of a pin and stated it was an impact point. There was no explanation as to how an impact point occurred sitting still in my drive that would cause the windshield to crack.
Safelite advertising a lifetime warranty is blatantly false. They either need to honor their warranty or stop making it a sales and advertising point.
