Things started out good enough -- Pipe Down called us within a day to schedule a specific time to come out and replace the garbage disposal. The disposal replacement itself was done very well -- the new one works fine, and my wife said that the technician was polite and did good work. The problems began when I got home from work and inspected the installation. I found that the electrical connection portal was open to the under-sink area (approximately a one-inch opening,) and I could see the rear skirts of the wire nuts used to connect the neutral and hot power supply leads. All of this faces outward toward other under-sink drain pipes. If any of the other drains develops a leak, there is a possibility that water could splash into the open power connection port and cause a short. Over the years, I've had several disposals replaced at several houses, and this is the first one that I've seen have a power connection like this. All the others either had the wiring enter from the bottom, or had a cover plate that shielded the wiring compartment from the under-sink area. I called AHS for a follow-up visit, explaining my concern when I called. They sent Pipe Down back out. The guy that came back out told my wife that all was correct, that it was according to code, and "the bare ground wire was okay like it was." (that was not the source of my concern.) He specifically told my wife to have me call the number he supplied if I had any questions. I called that number the next day, about 1:30 pm, and nobody answered. I left a voice message, told them who I was, what my concern was, and left my telephone number. It is now almost a week later, and I still have not gotten a return call. My time is valuable and I do not intend to use up more of it trying to call them back. If they don't care enough about customer service to ensure that they have whatever equipment and people are required to respond to the calls that they SPECIFICALLY ASKED FOR, then they don't deserve my business. If you want okay technical repair, but are willing to risk them blowing you off if you have questions, then go ahead and call them. I never intend to let them do anything around my house again.
Description of Work: Pipe Down was a contractor working for American Home Shield (AHS) home warranty company. We called AHS because our kitchen garbage disposal was leaking. AHS dispatched Pipe Down as the service provider, and they installed a new garbage disposal.
