CC's Carpet was very professional and delivered the promised product, exactly as they said they would, when they said they would. The prices are as posted so there's no haggling-type conversations. You may not get the very cheapest carpet out there, but they are guaranteed, coming with high warrantees and everything seems "legit". Some carpet places seem a little shady, giving you deals from the back of the store, not in the storeroom, and I hesitate to do that kind of business in case I ever have problems. I liked that at CC's, what you see is what you get.
And the carpet was installed within a week of purchase and looks great!
right.
We didn't shop around too much on this occasion and in retrospect I think we
paid too much even if we'd gotten the product we wanted.
We went into the local CC Carpet and picked out the flooring we wanted. We were
very specific during the selection process to let the salesman know that we
wanted the flooring that had beveled edges on ALL FOUR SIDES. We found a
terrific product that could be installed as a floating floor called Quik Step
Perspective 4 laminate flooring. I still remember the product number UF861. That
infamous product number. Well, the salesman needed to come out to our home to
measure and said he'd bring a sample of the product with him to make sure
we liked the color as well in our home as we did in the store. We knew we
wanted that particular product, but it did come in a few different colors so we
thought that was a good idea. He arrived at our home, measured, and we
discussed the color and both agreed that we liked the color as well at home as
we had in the store. We inquired about the lack of end bevel on the sample he
brought, but he said it was only a piece of the middle of a board (it was only
about 2 foot long) and explained that was why the end bevels could not be seen.
He wrote the sale up right there in our home and used the product number on the
sample.
I got off of work for the installation.
When the installer had laid down about ¼ of the floor I noticed there were no
end bevels. I immediately called CC Carpet and was told that the salesman was
unavailable and that they would leave a message for him to call me. I waited a
bit and then called again and got another person who informed that they were
putting down the flooring that I’d ordered and I’d better let them finish
laying the floor and that the salesman would have to sort it out later. I was
really dumb to not have the initiative to go in and tell the installer to stop
putting down the floor. In retrospect it was my first home improvement and I
was way too mousy. Well – there was a lot going on at that time but I still made
time, usually during my work day, to call CC Carpet – over and over. They just
kept telling me that the salesman wouldn’t make that kind of mistake and that I
had signed on the dotted line. They definitely are NOT customer oriented AT
ALL. Finally after literally pleading and begging with them and truly trying
very very hard to wear them down by finally just refusing to get off the phone until
I got satisfaction – pleading and pleading and really begging the manager to
make things right, she finally agreed to “come out and take a look at the
floor.” What the heck? What does that mean? “Take a look at the floor.” Was she
planning to look at it and tell me it didn’t look that bad? Without the end
bevels it, quite honestly looked more like a bowling alley than a galley
kitchen. I was indignant but at least it was something. I’d have a human in my
home addressing the situation. Well, my grandmother died the next week, and of
course a funeral took place within another week. During the funeral
processional to the cemetery I got a call from a somewhat irritated CC Carpet
manager lady who was apparently at my home and ready to “take a look at” my
kitchen floor. I told her that I was at my grandmothers funeral and she
apologized and said we would reschedule
it. Well, the first one hadn’t actually been scheduled (she just showed up) so
I should not have been surprised when I never heard from CC Carpet again. Ever.
As you can imagine, I was tired at this point. I put a big rug over the floor
so I wouldn’t have to look at it and threw in the towel. If anyone had told me
they’d been treated this way by a company that has been in business for so long
I would not have believed it. I still can’t believe it. I will never, ever, use
CC Carpet again.
The flooring, by the way, started to
delaminate in front of the pantry after only 3 months. Now, 8 years later there
are other, larger areas that are delaminating. After the way they treated me I
choose not to try to invoke the 25 year warranty that the floor carries. We are
now replacing all of it with Armstrong Sheet Vinyl through Carpet Outlets of
TX.
The carpet that CC Carpet installed was
installed fine and wore decently well. I’m not sure how long carpeting is
supposed to last but we are replacing the den carpet after 8 years because it
is really shot at this point. It was a frieze.
Stay away from CC Carpet. They do not
understand the meaning of customer service. Once they have your money, or your
signature, they wash their hands of the sale.
(Just a side note - the installer didn't follow the directions for installing the flooring and therefore there are pattern repetitions more often than there should be which results in a more artificial look.)
The sales man told me it would take two days for the demo of old floors and install of the vinyl. The whole process took a full three days. The installers never showed up before 10:30 a.m. and stayed until after 6 or 7 p.m. each day. I never said anything becuase I i was so excited to have new floors, but that really cut into my dinner time and getting kids ready for school the next day.
When the contractors first showed up they failed to introduce themselves and they acted as if they spoke little english. It wasn't until day three that I realized the second contractor knew english. I thought that was rude and frustrating. I had a hard time communicating with other man as well. I felt as if he didn't understand everything I said or asked.
The contractors did the demo and install. Afterwards I had some vinyl pieces that were not laying flat and some edges were popping up. It appeard the glue was not sticking good. I called to have the contractors come back out. They were scheduled to come back out on 12/8/11 between 10 and 2. On 12/8/11 I received a call at 1:45 pm from the contractors saying he would be late and could come at 5pm. At 7:30 pm the contractor finally showed up. I had kids in the shower and was trying to get them in bed. I had already given up on them showing up. He wanted to go in the bathroom but my 10 year old son was in there. I had the contractor look at the other areas and asked my son to get out of the shower. I showed him all the areas and all he said was we'll have to order some more vinyl and come back to fix the areas that are not glued well.
The next day I called Donna in the office to let her know what had happened. She set up for the installation manager to come out and take a look. She was very nice and helpful. I met with the installation manager on 12/14/11. He was very courteous and showed up on time. I showed him the areas that I was having problems with as well as the areas where they had left glue on the tub and floor and didn't clean up after themselves. He said he would have them clean everything up, correct the floors and leave me some extra planks for future issues.
On 12/22/11 the contractors are back out replacing planks. They tried to tell me that some were popping up because they had water under them. I really don't know how they would have water under them when I had not mopped the floor. I had only used a damp cloth to clean up spills/sticky areas. Plus, if the floors are supposed to be ideal for water areas like the bathroom and kitchen; why would this make a difference and how would water penetrate the floor so easily? They had only brought out one box of replacement vinyl so they were not able to replace all the planks I was having trouble with. They rolled the floors with a 100 lb roller and said that should make the other lay flat. They did not clean the glue of the side of my tub or on the floors in the master bath but they caulked the tub in the hall bath. They didn't even clean the old caulk off and they did it without asking. Now I have to scrape it off and do it correctly, myself.
I am still having problems in my kitchen and bathroom behind my toilet but I am sick of them being at my house. Hopefully they will stick to their claim of the one year warrantly. I will have them out to attempt to fix it again in a couple of months.
At this time I would not recommend this company to anyone and I would not use them again. I'm hoping they come through for me and I can use them again in the future.
I've had a lot of work done on my house this year including: foundation work, painting, new gutters and floors. I am not a picky customer but I spent approximately 8k on this project and want floors that will last me at least 10 years. I made that clear to the salesman and I'm not satisfied with the product or installation. I have already noticed the floors are scratching in a few places as well.
