If I could give them no stars I would. Buyers beware, their sales people talk a good talk but once it goes to construction it all falls apart. I signed my contract in April of 2013, they supposedly broke ground in August 2013 foundation was not poured until Jan 2014. Initial projected closing date was Jan 2014 (can't do that when the foundation isn't poured until Jan 2014) did not settle until June 13, 2014. The builder/foreman was supposed to get me in contact with his framers to get a well house built. Well had been drained and they needed water for some reason and did not drain the well back down. Well pumps froze and exploded.....10k repair Tilson refused to pay for. Ended up cutting a small check in the end stating no fault. Foreman was not on site on a regular basis to make sure contractors were showing up much less ensure they were being respectful to my home. I had contractors cooking in my home before I did. Went in on a weekend after contacted by foreman/builder that I could go ahead and paint my custom colors on my walls. After spending a full day painting the entire house their painters came in and overs prayed on everything I had painted as well as stole my paint. Had to fight with Tilson to get the paint issues corrected and missing paint replaced. Had a contractor crack an underground pipe for the well causing yet another leak which Tilson once again refused to take on any liability. After much arguing they did pay for this repair in full. During the process I had MANY complaints about workmanship and they all fell on deaf ears. Was constantly told that there were tolerances that were acceptable in the building industry.
During the first punch out there were still workers in my home working on finishing the house WITH SHOES ON on my BRAND NEW CARPET and throwing caulk guns onto my carpet with the builder/foreman there. Who does that? I had 4 pages of issues. During my 2nd punch out there were numerous issues still but Tilson had ran my credit 4 times at this point and I was not going to allow them to run my credit again and needed to close. I agreed to close as long as the list of issues I provided was addressed/fixed. BIG mistake. A little over a year later I am STILL fighting to have some of these things rectified and am being told NO.
Within the first week of moving in my garage flooded. Why???? The threshold to the back door had not been sealed....I had MAJOR bug issues. Why??? NONE of the thresholds to the doors had been sealed. I had mice and snakes get into my home. Why????? The walls in the garage are not sealed because they say it is industry standard and I should expect mice/snakes in my home living in the country. What!!!!!?????? I should not expect mice and snakes in my BRAND NEW home if it were sealed correctly!!!!!
I have complained about my carpets since move in. Contractors were allowed to run around in their shoes tracking mud and dirt into my home. As part of punch out I required that the carpets be cleaned professionally because there was a mud patch by the back door. After vacuuming my carpet the first time I filled the canister 4 times over with DIRT and I year later I can still fill it 1 and 1/2 times. Per Tilson this is not a problem and does not need to be addressed. My toilets back up and have to be plunged every other month, they pretty much say I am lying. My bedroom window, exterior garage door, and fire place all leak/flood every time it rains.
My foundation has cracks EVERYWHERE...they say it is no issue and foundations companies won't inspect because it's a brand new house and it would be under warranty.
I have asked for inspection reports, proof that things were fixed that failed inspections since no re-inspect was required, proof that an initial energy efficiency audit was completed prior to the final, they can produce nothing I ask for. The give me paperwork but it's never what I asked for.
This customer boasts pride in product when selling to you but the truth of the matter is that they do not care about what they produce and they surely do not care if their customer is satisfied.
This is a VERY small piece of my experience. If you would like to talk to me prior to signing with Tilson or even thinking about choosing them as your home builder please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. I also have a recommendation for an EXCELLENT home builder in the DFW metroplex that actually takes pride in their work and cares about the customer and doesn't rape you on the price of your home.

So far the salesman has been very easy to work with and has answered all our questions. We have just started the building process so will have more info in 10-12 months.

I liked the field staff. She worked with me to design the house on one end. This is an energy star rated house. I just loved how well they worked with me.
