The owner of the company, Gene Eschmann came out to my house and inspected my door handle. After inspecting the door, he told me that the entire handle needed to be replaced. He also made me aware that the handle wasn’t one that I’d find in the average hardware store. So it would have to be ordered and most likely wouldn’t be cheap. He told me he’d find the door handle and get back to me in a few days with a quote for parts and labor. After a few days Gene called and told me that he’d found the handle and that the cost of it was $385. He said the handle was not in Houston and he’d have to go and get it. He emailed me the quote for the parts and labor at a cost of $715. I told him I’d get back to him in a day or two. I decided to search online for the handle myself and after 15 minutes, I found it on a website called build.com. for $165. So at a cost of $165+Tax and 13.99 for shipping, I ordered the exact handle for my door on a Tuesday and had it on Friday. It took me all of 20 minutes to install it. So even his labor was overpriced. I can’t understand why a person that does this sort of work for a living couldn’t find the same part at the price I did. I’m not here to bash Mr. Eschmann, but numbers don’t lie and those numbers spoke themselves. I’m glad I did my homework before using this company.
