I've used this guy before and he was great. I couldn't be happier than I am with him. I really check into providers pretty hard. I do as much research as I can because I can't afford to get ripped off. The reason I went ahead and called him was because he did my roof after the last storm in 2008. I knew what a good job he did and everything and he's been just super to work with.
Description of Work: His crew just finished repairing the roof.

Sales Manager Gabe Anthis was very cordial and professional in providing a detailed estimate to repair or replace my damaged roof and gutters. His recommendation to replace my roof concurred with the recommendation of my insurance adjuster. However, his estimate of materials needed was higher than that of my insurance adjuster. Gabe took this into consideration and made small adjustments to be more in line with my insurance estimate. Gabe also made a point of describing all of the high-quality materials that would be used and how each step would proceed. After obtaining 2 other contractor bids, I went with McKinney Roofing. Partly because I like using a local company, partly because he made necessary adjustments to be in line with my insurance and partly because Gabe convinced me that his experienced crew would do an excellent job. He even provided local addresses where I could view his work. Due to the recent stormy weather, the start date for my roof was about 7 days out. That start date was pushed back twice but it added only an additional 5 days or so. I understood that it was a busy season for roofers and these things happen. The crew showed up on the latest rescheduled date and went right to work. Gabe showed up shortly thereafter to make sure all precautions were taken to minimize damage to flowerbeds, shrubs and debris in our pool. Gabe was on site over the 2-day roof project, but was understandably called away on several occasions. He was always a phone call away with any concerns. The crew finished the roof replacement after 2 very long work days. Gabe wanted to come by afterwards to make sure the job and cleanup was satisfactory. Due to a family commitment, we arranged for his walk-through to be about 3 days later. Something else came up with Gabe, and he had to reschedule for the 4th day. When he arrived, he was very concerned that every little nail, scrap and pebble was cleaned up to my liking. He was very particular. Before he left, I asked about a printed invoice so I could write a check. He gave me the total verbally and said his office would arrange to have an invoice sent. After obtaining 2 other gutter bids, I told Gabe a few days later that I wanted to go with his gutter crew. He immediately called his gutter people and set up installation for that same week. This is where things go south. McKinney Roofing's gutter crew showed up and immediately started taking down the old gutters. They worked very quickly. However, they had no concerns over where they dropped the old gutters, nails and flashings, thus damaging several plants and shrubs along the way. I expressed my concern to the crew but there was an obvious language barrier. The crew leader had a mediocre grasp of English. I have a mediocre grasp of Spanish. Gabe was not onsite during this gutter installation though I would have expected him to check in at some point. As the gutter crew was finishing up, I noticed several problems with downspouts and flashings not being like the ones they removed. The crew leader went around with me to correct them. They finished their cleanup after sunset and left. The next day, I found several nails and pieces of sheet metal in the garden and in the yard. I accidentally stepped on two nails that went through my shoe. Gabe wanted to come by afterwards and inspect the gutter job, but that never happened. I called Gabe about getting an invoice for the gutter job and reminded him about the invoice for the roofing job. He assured me that he would get them to me shortly, and requested that I send pertinent insurance estimate information to his office for review and completeness. Two weeks after all the jobs were finished, I still had no printed invoices. I contacted the owner of McKinney Roofing with a strongly worded email and finally got my printed invoices (with apologies from the owner). My final comments: McKinney Roofing does an excellent job of roofing. Do not use them for gutter work. Communicate clearly in person or by phone and not by email/text message. Always get your printed invoices describing materials, work performed and exact amount due. Do not send any checks until you have all documentation and are 100% satisfied with the work.
Description of Work: Entire roof and gutter replacement after damaging Spring storms. A hailstorm did extensive damage to many homes in the area. A representative of McKinney Roofing approached me in my front yard in the days shortly after the storm. Gabe Anthis, Sales Manager for McKinney Roofing, provided an inspection of the roof and gutters. Full replacement of the roof was recommended. The gutter damage was primarily cosmetic, but I requested an estimate for gutter replacement as well.
