Purchased a queen size mattress and box spring. Delivery fee was waived - if we would set-up mattress. The salesperson forgot to set-up the delivery time. I took off from work and waited for the mattress - nothing arrived called the store and discovered that they forgot. The mattress was delivered late that evening. The delivery driver left. We removed the plastic from the mattress and box spring and discovered that the box spring which is nothing more than cardboard placed over 2x4s was dented in several places. The material covering the bottom of the mattress had a 3 inch rip exposing he foam mattress. We paid $580.00 for a damaged product. We did not set-up the bed. I called Mattress Outfitters first thing in the morning to report the damage. A person took my contact information with a promise to have someone call me. Nothing happened. Late in the afternoon, I called and asked to speak to Gene the owner. I was told he was not available but would contact me ASAP. NOTHING! 24 hours later I received a call from a clerk saying that Gene would come by my house @ 8:00 the next evening to view the damage. HE NEVER SHOWED UP. I have called and left messages. NO RESPONSE
Description of Work: Purchased mattress the delivery fee was waived if we would do the set-up of the mattress. The salesman was pleasant and helpful. When the agreed upon delivery time came and nothing was delivered - I contacted the store only to discover that no delivery was scheduled. This was a huge problem since I had already disposed of my son's bed. The salesperson on duty immediately scheduled the delivery for that evening while complaining about the original salesperson's incompetency. The mattress and box spring were delivered with damage. The problem has never been resolved. Mattress Outfitters set two appointments to come to our home and view the damage to the mattress, but have never shown.

As explained above, the mattress was crammed into a PT Cruiser by an employee. When Scott got home he brought the mattress inside, unwrapped it, and found that springs were broken in the middle. Scott only took the mattress out of the car and carried it into a bedroom. It would have been literally impossible for him to have damaged the mattress. The mattress was not and has not been used at all. On Wednesday the 9th we experienced a snow and ice storm that virtually shut down Dallas-Ft Worth for a couple of days. Scott had appointments Friday but got the mattress back to them on Saturday. Mark was on duty and refused to give him a refund or a replacement. My Wife, Betty, and I are involved because Scott used our Credit Card- we are paying for this. We went to the Shop today (Sunday 2/13) and talked to Gene Garrett, who told us that he was the owner. He also refused to offer a replacement or refund, offering only the statement that "Mark wouldn't do anything like that" as a reason and stating that Scott should have brought it back sooner. When we reminded him of the weather problems he said "Well, he should have called." Mr. Garrett is a large, imposing young man and appeared to be going from hostile to belligerent. He ordered us to leave his shop and we complied. The facts are crystal clear. Once the mattress left the factory, the only people who touched it were Mattress Outfitters employees. Scott could not have broken it unloading it or carrrying it into the house. Whether the mattress was defective when it left the factory, was damaged in transit to the shop, or was broken by Mark when he loaded it into the car is immaterial. Scott would not have been at fault in any of these cases. I strongly suspect that Mattress Outfitters would not replace or refund merchandise under any circumstances... truly a Buyer Beware operation.
Description of Work: My son, Scott, purchased a Twin Mattress from the store on 2/8/2011. Mark was the salesperson. Scott told Mark that he would come back with a larger vehicle to pick it up. Mark told him that he could get it into Scott's PT Cruiser and proceeded to do so with quite a bit of forcing and bending. Scott did not assist Mark in this. Neither Scott or Mark removed the protective covering, choosing instead to leave it on to protedt the mattress in transit.
