We have always been very pleased with their treatment of our lawn and have had only a few minor problems with the staff providing services at the house. However, the ongoing numerous problems and rude treatment by the office staff has destroyed a once good working relationship. Below are listed only a few of the problems we've had in the past year.
1. Invoices were not sent followed by emails saying the payment was past due. The office manager said paperwork left at my house following treatments was the invoice. I informed her the paperwork was clearly marked with the statement and quot;Email invoice for payment.and quot; I requested that one unified system of invoicing be used (during the summer invoices for mowing and lawn treatment were emailed), and she never replied to my email.
2. During the past year we requested several bids from Longhorn for work totaling more than $10,000 and would have given preference to them because of our ongoing relationship but the requests went unanswered, or were answered incorrectly. In once case a bid to lay sod on the back 1/2 acre of our property was given for bermuda when we have St. Augustine. When I notified them of the error no bid for St. Augustine was ever sent. We received a bid from them to expand our sprinkler system and we had decided to have them do the work, but when I emailed to get the last details on warranty, start dates, etc., they took 8 days to reply to my email. I had given up on day 7 and chosen another company.
3. We received an email from Longhorn last Friday saying they would be treating our yard for weeds today. I responded with an email reminding them to knock on our door if the dogs were outside. We've had problems in the past with them just leaving notes saying they couldn't go in the back yard when no one had bothered to let us know they were here and ask us to bring them in. Perhaps this request bothered them, I don't know, but with two large dogs it's a little impractical to keep them inside all day.
In that email I also told them we were ready to start having the yard mowed but I wanted to confirm first whether there would be a change in price. I never received a response (it's been 3 days now), but did inexplicably receive an email today (the day they had notified us they were coming to treat our weeds) saying our yard had been inspected and it only had grassy weeds, and that these would die on their own when the weather got hot.
I replied asking whether this meant no one would be coming to treat weeds today and asked for someone at a higher level than the office manager to contact me to discuss the ongoing problems we're having with communication with Longhorn. I detailed some of the problems I've listed here and said we would have to find a new lawn maintenance company if the problems didn't improve. I received an email in return from someone named Tom wishing us luck with our new provider.
The office staff of Longhorn has frankly seemed to treat customers with contempt. We have been very long-term customers who have always paid promptly (as soon as we've received the invoice). However, the lack of organization and rudeness when we are trying to resolve the problems this has created has made it impossible to continue working them.

The salesman was great. He was very knowledgeable and thorough. He came up with great ideas for our landscape. In the end, the work was done well and we are very pleased with the final outcome. We will work with Longhorn again.
