About us

We build and install custom pull out shelves for your existing cabinets. We are a Texas owned (non-franchised) company. David Hughes founded the company in 2009 and has 25 years of experience in cabinet making and kitchen design. Our product is made from high quality solid maple or 9 ply Baltic Birch Plywood. There is no particle board or Masonite in our pull out shelves. We use a UV cured polyester finish that will never wear out chip or scratch under normal use. We use full extension ball bearing glides. When a shelf exceeds 24" in width we install a, fully captured 1/2" thick bottom to eliminate any sagging on our 100lb capacity product. We are priced less than other, professional, pull out shelf companies.

What a pleasure to work with a true professional. We made an appointment for  David to came to our house.  He arrived on time.  He measured our kitchen cabinets for pull-out shelves. He told us when they would be ready and we set a date that day for installation. On installation day he arrived on time and spent about 6 hours installing the pull outs. It's been over a week and everything is working beautifully. I highly recommend Kitchens Alive. They do what they say they will do.

Kitchens Alive was contacted in early July, 2015 to provide an estimate for pull-out shelves for my kitchen cabinets.  Within a short time after the initial contact, Mr. David Hughes, the owner, made arrangements to come to my home to measure and give me an estimate for the shelving. The price that he quoted was about half of what had been quoted to me by another shelving company and included good quality pull-out shelves for all of my cabinets..  Within a few weeks he returned to install the custom shelves.  He arrived on time, was very professional and courteous, and did an excellent job. I am very pleased to date with the completed work.  I would use this provider again.

Dave is professional and precise.  His bid came in lower than the major competitor but he is the owner and has been in the furniture business his entire career so his quality shows.  I highly recommend him over the high priced franchised competitor.

This service was performed about six months ago. I meant to write my review immediately afterward but just didn't get around to it. The fact that I am doing so now is a testament to how delighted I am with my new drawers. Every single day I think what a great investment they are. It is such a pleasure to be able to pull the drawers out and actually reach items. They make so much better use of space; I'm organized and neat. The drawers and tracks are of high quality, very sturdy and pull out very smoothly. Dave was prompt, always professional, and cleaned up afterwards.

Like I said, here I am six months later still enthralled with how wonderful it is to have the pull out drawers. While individual drawers were not very expensive, when we added up all the shelves I wanted (a total of 20) and added the customization, the total cost was more than I had originally planned to spend. However, I have not regretted it one bit and if we ever move, the first thing I will do is call Dave to come put in pull out drawers.

David was easy to work with and very professional. He did an excellent job of our kitchen pull-out shelving installation. Good quality product, fair price and good workmanship. These full pull-out shelves help to keep our kitchen better organized and run more efficiently.
My husband and I are very pleased with our new kitchen pull-out shelving.

The day he came to do the cabinets I wasn't able to be there but he sent me pictures so I could see what t looked like when he was done. I was so excited!!! I couldn't wait to get home and load up the cabinets. One advantage - I went through everything and got rid of stuff I actually don't use. One disadvantage, in the laundry room, some of the spray bottles are too tall to stand up so they may need to go into the area under the sink or something.
However, it is so nice to be able to roll out the drawers and find items at the back of the drawer that I wasn't even aware I had before!! Some things I had bought multiples of because I didn't know I already had them! So while it cost me money to put them in it saved me a little bit of money because I won't be spending money on necessities anymore before I really need them.
He did a great job and I'll be having him back to do the kitchen which is lots of cabinets and I'm wondering how he'll tackle two corner cabinets, bar cabinets, more master bath cabinets, plus a lower set of cabinets in a bathroom that has lots of miscellaneous in it!!!

Having these pull outs installed was the best thing that we did to our kitchen. It allows for better storage and accessibility.
Measurements were taken of all cabinets where pull outs were to be installed. We had 13 installed. (With 12 we could have two free.) We also had dividers (5) installed in the deep cabinet above the oven to store cookie sheets, cutting boards and any item that stacks vertically. That worked out beautifully! The pull outs were ready to install in four weeks. Installation took about an hour +.

David was prompt, professional, and honest. He gave me more than I asked for. He had quoted me a price for shelves at the 3 inch height. When I asked about some deeper shelves for some of my cabinets, he threw in two at no extra cost. He also glued back a problem cabinet that had lost it glue due to age at no extra cost. He was in and out in a very short time and left me no mess at all. I always appreciate a small family owned business, and this is one of the best that I have encountered.

Working with David from first phone contact to install was fantastic. The product and the company exceeded our expectations. We are doing the project in two phases and will be starting phase two soon. Why do it yourself when it can be done professionally, efficiently, with high quality materials for the same price. I highly recommend Kitchen Alive.

We had a few roll-out drawers in our original kitchen cabinets. Since they were so much more convenient when accessing stored items, we decided to get more. We saw an ad for and quot;Kitchens Aliveand quot; in a local flyer and after confirming they were on Angie's List we gave them a call and scheduled an appointment. David arrived right on time, fully explained the product, took careful measurements and gave us a quote and an estimated time frame for fabrication and installation. The quote was reasonable so we gave him the go-ahead. He called when the roll-outs were ready to schedule installation. On the scheduled day David was punctual and efficient. It took him less than two hours to install all 12 roll-out drawers.

We would unreservedly recommend Kitchens Alive for anyone looking for high-quality, professionally installed roll-outs. It was a pleasure doing business with them.

Initial measuring was done by a salesman for a quote and was then followed up by final measurement and some suggestions by David. All of the suggestions were good. Once the shelves were manufactured, we received a call from David to set up installation. Installation was completed as set up and we are extremely pleased. We highly recommend.

First, let me say I had a hard time finding any company in Angie's List, to do this work. That was because there is no category for Roll Out Shelving, Shelvings or Storage problems. I did not want my Kitchen remodeled and felt that a remodeling company wouldn't want such a small job. So I found an add in "The Home Mag" which is a magazine dealing with "anything and everything" for your home. I always use Angies List but was at an impass because I couldn't find a contractor. I first called one of Kitchens Alive competators, They came out showed me the product and it was what we wanted and I placed a down payment on the order. Then I began to think the price was much too expensive. Knowing I had three days to cancell I called Kitchens Alive, who I also found in the Home Mag, to get a cost estimate to compare prices. When I called I talked with the owner, Dave he ask if I knew the sizes. I gave them to him and within an hour sent me an e-mail with a quoted price. He said he would have to come out to get exact measurements to get an exact cost. He said he could come out the next day and he did at the exact time he said he would arrive. After taking all the measurements and showing me his product the price was actually a little less that what the e-mail quote. The products from both companies were almost identical in materials used. Kitchens Alive product was a thousand dollars less than the first company. I immediately sent a letter cancelling the first companies order and placed my order with Kitchens Alive. Dave, told me it would take about 3-4 weeks to have the draws made. In a few days short of 3 weeks the draws were completed. He called me to set up a date and time for the install. He called the morning of the install to tell me he was on his way and showed up right on time. The work is now complete and the draws look and work great. Dave did the install himself and he was neat and cleaned up after himself. I found out during the install that Dave had just joined Angie's List in the past week..
