When you go in and take your pet for shots and things like that, they take your pet somewhere else. They don’t do it in front of you. I don’t appreciate that. Whatever they are going to do with my pet I want them to do in front of me.

Maddie stayed for 2 days and has completely recovered. The biopsy showed a type of growth that could have turned into more serious issues had we not caught it as early as we did. I cannot thank Dr. Taylor enough for his constant vigilance in treating not only Maddie our Pug, but our 2 labs, Mona and Coco. I have been going to Dr. Taylor for 3 years. Not once have I been disappointed in the care and attention that he has provided. He has even gone as far as understanding my type of personality and as a result giving me the extra reassurance and confidence that I need during difficult times for all 3 of my dogs. His staff from the front desk to the techs in the back has always been attentive, caring and professional while exhibiting the genuine love they have for animals. Thank you Dr. Taylor and all of your staff for the utmost care, attention and love that you have given Maddie, Mona and Coco!

Extremely disappointed with our first experience at this clinic. Learned Dr. Taylor is off premise for long periods, during normal office hours. Due to a miscommunication, waited for over three hours to pick up my post surgery pet, because there wasn’t a veterinarian onsite to release. Watched clients both call and drop in, only to be told, they would need to call/return after 5:00PM. Maybe I’m asking for too much, but I expect a veterinarian to be at their place of business, during hours of operations advertised. Adjust hours to reflect office is closed from Noon until 4PM, if a doctor will not be available. I need more reliable accessibility to both my pet and to qualified personnel, than provided here.

That was about 4 weeks ago. It was over $300. I would say that they were very personable. They call about an issue or what have you, sound like a house call. They will call you and follow you up to see how the dog is doing.

They are not as positive. They are very expensive. They have an in-clinic laboratory, so that is good and we can get lab results during the appointment.

My husband and I recently moved to McKinney and were notified by our old vet that our dog was due for his 6 month Kennel Cough vaccination. We found Highlands-Eldorado Veterinary Hospital on Angie's list and I called for an appointment on Wednesday and they were able to get us in on the following Monday. I think they could've gotten us in earlier but I was out of town.
We only waited a few minutes after arriving to be assisted as the receptionist finished up with a customer. She weighed our dog and took us to an exam room where I filled out some paperwork and waited for the Technician. He came in and went through our dog's history with me, asking lots of questions and answering all of mine. He recommended that we switch to a different heartworm/flea preventative medication after hearing my dislike of the one we currently use, and explained that this new one is more effective. He explained that I should consider giving our dog two additional vaccinations during our visit - canine influenza and DPV as canine influenza is very common and contagious in dogs that board, go to daycare or dog parks (as ours does) and our dog received the 3 year DPV vaccination 2 years ago and it doesn't really last the full 3 years. He left me to think it over and discuss it with the Vet. Dr. Taylor came in and went through our dog's history with me again and explained more about the additional vaccinations and changing the heartworm medicine. He was not pushy - just provided his recommendations and allowed me to make my own decision. I decided to give our dog both additional vaccinations, but not to buy any more heartworm/flea preventative medication as we still have plenty of our old medicine. He said that would be fine and had the receptionist make a note to remind me of the new stuff next time we are in (as I will be ready to purchase the new medication at that time). He also discussed with me our previous vet's recommendation to have our dog on a daily dose of an anti-inflammatory medicine. After examining him, Dr. Taylor did not feel that was necessary, especially given some of the long-term side effects of taking the medicine. I had never been told the side-effects by our previous vet and appreciated him being honest with me (especially when he could've just let me keep our dog on the medicine and gained the revenue from us purchasing it from him).
Overall, it was a really great experience - he provided his recommendations without being pushy or insulting our previous vet's opinion, but with a conviction one could only have from many years of experience in the field. I fully trust him with our dog's care and look forward to being a patient there for many years to come.

We have been using them for 10 years now. They treat our animals as if they were their own. They definitely go out of their way to make our pets comfortable. They were also very sensitive to the loss of one of our pets.
Their prices are also very fair.

I have a 15 yr old little dog with a sensitive tummy. I needed to find a new vet close to new home. I called them. They made time for him right away, and gave him a thorough exam. He's got a follow up appointment for the beginning of next month, and I'll continue to use Highlands El Dorado as his regular vet going forward. Professional, compassionate staff, very clean facility, and the vet couldn't have been nicer. He explained everything in very clear terms and at the end of the day, made my dog feel better.

They are very knowledgeable about dog. They are easy to get into and work with your schedule. They are comparable in price and the staff is excellent.

The name of the doctor is Dr. Wesley Taylor and he is the only doctor there. I used them in December 2010 as my cat had a burn on her back. She is due to go in there in September 2011 for a routine checkup.
