Last spring on April 25, our home warrant company sent Entire Air Solutions to do a spring tune-up on our 2 HVAC units. The primary goal of a tune-up is to optimize the system’s performance, extend its lifespan, and prevent potential issues before they become costly problems. Jason from Entire Air inspected our systems, said everything was fine and went on his way. He did not remove the valve service caps to hook up hoses to measure system pressures directly to determine the health of the systems but apparently did it in a different way. On every spring tune-up we have had before, technicians measure the level of refrigerant in the system by attaching gauges to the unit which involves connecting hoses to the unit by removing the valve caps and connecting the gauges to the system. Over the next few weeks after Jason inspected our systems on April 25, the downstairs unit quit cooling well, and by June 21, it started blowing air at 75 degrees. On June 21, Jason with Entire Air returned to determine why our downstairs unit was not cooling. He said that one of the service valve caps, which he did not inspect on April 25, was deteriorated (“had dry rot”) and was the cause of loss of refrigerant. He added 5 pounds of R22 at a cost of $600 and put on a new service valve cap. On his return visit on June 21, Jason did not do a leak test to determine the original source of the leak, which clearly turned out not to be the valve cap as the system continued to leak R22 over the next several weeks. Nor did Jason add leak freeze during this follow up visit as a preventative measure in case there might have been a leak in the line somewhere that had caused the initial 5 pound loss of coolant. Three weeks later on July 17, Tim from Speedy Electric & AC came out to inspect the system and found that an additional 2 pounds of R22 had leaked from the system since June 21 when Jason had added 5 pounds of R22. Tim found that both Schrader valves were not tightly secured and he had to tighten both of them down to prevent further leaking, as Schrader valves are known to be a source of refrigerant leaks in air conditioning systems. Tim added 2 pounds of R22 at an additional cost of $320 to us and also added Rectorseal Leak Sealer in case there were any line or coil leaks present. Had a deteriorated service valve cap been the source and cause of the 5 pound loss of coolant, then by simply replacing the valve cap, which is all Jason did on June 21, the system would not have leaked any more. I spoke with John, who said he was the owner of Entire Air to complain why our unit had lost so much refrigerant in only 7 weeks. He said that his technicians do not use gauges to measure pressure/coolant levels because doing so could release small amounts of coolant from removing the valve caps and hooking up gauges. Instead, he said his technicians measure temperatures to calculate pressure levels by referring to a pressure/temperature chart. Even if this an acceptable way of estimating pressure and coolant levels, the service caps still should have been removed and inspected to determine the condition of the rubber gaskets inside the caps to see if they needed to be replaced. Jason did not do this. on his April 25 inspection. The initial spring inspection by Entire Air on April 25 was inadequate. The follow up on June 21 was inadequate since a leak test was not done, nor were the Schrader valves inspected during that visit to make sure they were tight and not leaking, nor was leak freeze added as a preventative measure. On July 21, Speedy Electric & AC properly diagnosed and corrected the system issues and we have had no further leaks now one year later. As a result of poor service from Entire Air, my wife and I incurred charges of $920 for R22 and $70 for a second call which might have been unnecessary had a proper tune up had been performed on April 25. We cannot recommend Entire Air and will never use them again.

Entire Air Solutions was assigned to us through our warranty company One Guard Home Warranty. Entire Air Solutions was sent out to do an A/C tune-up. Jason was professional and did the tune-up relatively quickly. All seemed to have gone fine. Forward to 2.5 weeks later and one of our A/C units failed. I had the warranty company assign Entire Air Solutions to come out as they'd seemed relatively professional on the tune-up. Jason identified the issue as a failed capacitor and swapped it out. Forward to 3 days later and our second A/C unit than failed. I'm not saying that the company did anything that caused the failures but it seems the whole point of an A/C checkup is to catch things like faulty capacitors and avoid these issues. So essentially we had an a/c tuneup done to avoid issues and then had both our A/C units fail within 3 weeks of the tuneup and within a week of each other. Thus is seems the $105 we paid for the tune up ended up being completely pointless as we had to then pay for 2 repairs 3 weeks afterward. After this happened i decided to call up Entire Air Solutions to see if they could offer any remedy or if they had any sort of warranty or guarantee on the tune-up. This is when things really went badly. I spoke to Jason and outlined that hey you guys did a tune-up and now both are A/C units have failed, isn't this the point of the tune-up and that i would have hoped that it would catch failing capacitors. Jason was pretty dismissive and unpleasent on the phone. He basically said this happens and it's nothing they did and there was nothing they could do about it. He also said he saw this all the time and it's just one of those things. I would suggest if he's seeing it all the time, he might not be doing the tune-ups correctly. Also i would have expected him to at least want to remedy the situation by offering to try and fit us in to look at the issue quickly even if he couldn't cover the parts. He didn't offer any of these things, didn't apologize and basically said there was nothing he could do and that's just the way things are. I would suggest if you're looking for an A/C company you look for a company with better customer service if nothing else. Also these things occasionally happen but having 2 a/c units fail within a week of each other within a few weeks of a "tune-up" isn't exactly a vote of confidence for the company.
