Abel's Heating & Air Conditioning

AVOID! Abel's Heating and Cooling was contracted by by my home warranty company to fix an AC insulation issue that resulted in a leak. When they came to look at the issue, they told me that I needed major work on my roof because it completely lacked ventilation and gave me a number to call to fix it. But my roof does have several ventilation units - it seems that they were trying to defraud me by telling me I needed unnecessary work. Then they scheduled to come back during a workweek morning. I took time off of work to meet them and I confirmed the appointment with them first thing in the morning. They NEVER came and would not take my calls in the afternoon, evening and following days to figure out what happened and/or reschedule. I missed a majority of the workday that day. When my home warranty called them after I reported the no-show, they reported then, to them, that the work was not covered and that they wouldn't go out to fix the issue. I understand that not all issues are covered by the plan, and I was happy to pay out of pocket for the repair (which I eventually did with someone else), but they refused to take my calls or do the work. On top of all that - they still billed the warranty company (which in turn bills me) for the diagnostic report, which they didn't even submit until I called the warranty company to report the no-show. I would never hire Abels heating and cooling again and would do whatever I can to avoid them.

I highly recommend Abel's Heating & Air Conditioning.  Abel Cruz, the owner, provided excellent service.  He and his assistant were punctual and trustworthy. The project was a complicated one, because of the particular design of my 1955 house, and Abel kept in good communication with me.  I had lots of questions, and he let me know how the work was progressing at all times, and he explained the various components of the system. He was very meticulous and careful in his work, and he took my aesthetic requests into consideration when locating the indoor air handlers and the numerous outdoor refrigerant lines and line covers. For instance, when one of the lines had to run in a fairly visible area on the house, he went out of his way to secure some different line cover that would be more attractive and long-lasting.  I appreciated that he and his helper were respectful of my property, cleaned up every day, and always locked doors and secured outdoor gates.  Because I have indoor pets, he also worked with me to complete one room early so that I could keep my pets safely housed there, rather than boarding them at a kennel during the process. At the end of the project, he patiently did a long walk-through with me, double-checking all the components, showing me how to change the filters, making sure all of my many questions were answered, and showing me in detail how the system worked.  And--it worked great! Again, I would note that while I had a ductless, multi-split system installed at my house, Abel works with other types of HVAC systems as well.  I am very thankful that he was the sub-contractor who installed my system, and I'm very pleased with his work.
