Advantage Lawn and Landscape

Mowing services went well for the most part. Had some issues with sprinkler heads being damaged. Some extra work pruning a very large palm and other shrubs was done exactly the way I requested. Very knowledgeable with sprinkler systems. However, there was no price adjustment for having a rather small front yard and a pool in the back with only two strips of grass to mow on the sides.

Very lacking in response to special requests. An emailed request I sent requesting additional services received no response. A second request was sent 3 weeks later, which was acknowledged and the additional services were discussed. However, there seemed to be no evidence of the requests being fulfilled nor did it even appear as though the "regular" lawn service was being provided. A third request to provide an update on the requests made were not acknowledged again. Very unprofessional to not respond or (I assume) indicate that service would no longer be provided. I have since hired another lawn service. 

 

The lawn care crew damaged my fence several times which included long and obvious scratches along the fences pickets. The lawn care crew also ran over my rain gutter downspouts. I had to remind them to complete the terms of the contract such as weed cleanup of the driveway and trimming of the bushes. Finally, during their last visit, they killed my grass in several places near the driveway and walkway by sloppy application of weed-killer. They are the highest-priced lawn service that I have used in the past, and for such prices, I had expected much better quality.

I used Advantage Lawn and Landscaping for about 3 years and they do excellent work. I was extremely happy with his team's lawn maintenance and would recommend his company to family and friends.
The reason why I stopped service with Kevin is that communicating with him can be difficult. I would send an email and have to send another to request a response so that I knew he read it. I would leave messages/emails to request pruning or mulching and I would not know he received it until I saw the additional work was done on the next visit or sometimes two visits. It was a constant state of limbo. Normally that would not be enough to cause me to leave but I planned on having additional work done to my yard. Kevin came out to my house and we discussed work on my front flowerbed and a couple of trees. We talked about the back yard and he said he would send me an estimate for the backyard work. His pricing was very reasonable and we agreed to have the front yard work done. On the crew's next visit they were supposed to prune some trees, retrench around the flower bed and use that soil to rebuild the flowerbed and place bender board to hold the soil and mulch in place so that drainage would not be blocked because I have a spout that ran from the roof gutter, under the flowerbed, into the trench. I was out Saturday morning but when I got back I saw that the work was done. They pruned some scruff off of the tree trunks but did not prune the branches. They put bender board down but did not retrench first and placed mulch down. Now my drain spout is completely blocked and I will have to remove the bender board and mulch so that I can retrench and rebuild the flowerbed and unblock the drain. They also placed the seam in the front when it could have been placed on the side and out of sight. I called him that Saturday around 1pm and left a message that I was concerned and to please call me. By Monday 9:30 pm I had not heard from him. I knew I wanted additional work done (two weeks later and he never did send me the estimate for the backyard) plus redoing the front yard work and I don't want to have to struggle working with the people I am paying. I left him a message that Monday night that I would be stopping all future work with him. I scheduled for another company to come out that following Thursday. When I got home Wednesday from work my yard was mowed and I knew it wasn't the new company. I called Kevin and he answered the phone, he never listened to my voice mails from Saturday or Monday and it was now Wednesday.
Because the bender board was not installed correctly and the lawn was mowed after I canceled with him he did not charge me for it.
I'm disappointed because his crew really does exceptional work for a fantastic price. If you are looking for lawn care, mulching, pruning, etc. I HIGHLY recommend Advantage Lawn and Landscaping. You can even pay online which is a huge bonus.
