After voicing some concerns with the owner, Mr. Washington, I understand better and know there was some miscommunication. Actually, the idea of a maintenance plan for $350 isn't that bad. He says he has been in business for 9 years and has even done pro bono work (replaced a roof for FREE for an elderly gentleman.) How many roofers do you know who will do THAT? Meals on Wheels contacted him about this person who had some health issues. I'm not saying he is going to give away his product, but he does seem very fair, after several emails back and forth. The only negative I have is that other roof estimates found more damage. Mr. Washington told me that his estimator just didn't communicate to me as well as he should have. In the end, ALL issues were fixed.
Description of Work: I received a flyer in my door. I knew I needed roof work. So, I called them and scheduled an appt when I would be home on a holiday. Tom Doyle came out. He climbed up on the roof. I had earlier pointed out my concern with the ONE missing shingle. And also I knew that one turbine that was getting worn out. Appraisal date was 2/18/2013 I think. Their flyer shows that for $350 a year, they will repair, replace anything and everything that needs a repair. But you do get a discount (10%) from them on the new roof and they will work with your insurance company so you don't have to pay anything or next to nothing. Anyway, they identified one pipe vent that they said was "cracked." The turbine, yes, had hail damage (other companies found bearings were shot but there was hail damage also). There were other issues. A ridge line that my 30+ years red oaks had caused. I had just recently had the trees cut back, so I had no idea of this damage. Very alarming. I was very glad that Mr. Doyle pointed that out to me. It is right over a newly remodeled bathroom, so I sure don't want any water damage. Later, they found two pipe vents that needed work, more lost shingles, etc. But it was all covered under that one maintenance plan. You sign up for the $350 annual; but they will come back after a storm, or every 6 months. It kinda sounds too good to be true. Is it? Honestly, after voicing my concerns to Mr. Washington, the owner of the company, I think I understand where he is coming from. My roof is about 10-15 years old. Maybe older. I'm not sure. If you trust them with repairs, maybe you will be more inclined to call them for the new roof! I got three other estimates. Even if you sign up for their maintenance program, you are not obligated to use them for the roof replacement later down the road. Of course, they hope you will if it needs replacement. I don't know anyone else who offers this kind of service. My other estimates were for $935 (after Angie's List discount). One for $750, and one for $650. All these others were from people I sought out from Angie's List. I decided to give Showroom a chance and they didn't let me down. I have to be honest in saying that I don't really trust roofing companies much. Heard too much that is bad. But, never had to deal with anything major, so far. So, what do I know? I do know they probably lost a bit of money in the repairs part of this, but that's because they want to branch out, give some community goodwill, etc. I did call and complain after the work was done because I just had to take their word for it. At my age, I sure am not crawling up there to see if they did what they said they would. No problem! They sent Cody out one afternoon and he took the pics and explained a lot to me. I was very satisfied.
