May 30 - The initial start date for the work was set for June 4, but I was quite pleased to receive a call that Sand T would be able to come out on May 30th. The crew of 3 gentlemen arrived on time and worked effectively together. Sprinkler locations were flagged, a thorough tilling of the designated areas was done, and the crew raked and bagged debris, leveled the soil, and broadcast a protective fungicide treatment as well as fertilizer. All working together, they proceeded to lay the grass which was amazingly fast. While most of the area was straight rectangle to rectangle, they did have to cut and trim to fit, some circular areas and curved areas around beds. I do appreciate the care they took to do this since I assume it is not the norm! When all the grass had been laid, the grass was thoroughly hand watered.
I am very happy to say the new grass is already beginning to turn green and blend in with the other areas of the lawn in only 3 days time. Thank you S and L for a great job!
All the issues I have or every time I need sometime done in my yard besides the cutting of my grass they do a fantastic job.
I would recommend them to everyone
We only required service every two weeks during mowing season. They were always punctual, fast and professional. They made up for rain delays with no issues. and quot; What little rain we get.and quot; In the fall they always came and bagged the leaves and kept the yard looking clean. Never had any issues and they were always responsive to special requests that I may have had. I would definitely use them again or recommend them for lawn care.
So far, I have had a leak from the main shut-off box, and a zone that would not shut off due to a pebble. My front yard is on a slant, and one cannot believe how they installed the shut off box. My yard looked like it had been assaulted in their rush to get the job done, and their positioning of the zone boxes is beyond my comprehension.
Purple primer was splashed on my siding (I have a $342 quote from my very reputable siding company) by an admittedly marginal employee. I was reimbursed only after promising not to go to small claims court.
I was willing to pay for a follow up to put grass and dirt down Friday, 6 July (I figured I was in too deep financially at this point to not let them try and fix my areas of concern). They were also supposed to do some fence work on that day that I had scheduled 2 weeks in advance. Also, the sprinkler head placement in areas is ridiculous. My back yard looked better when I was watwering it myself.
At first they were to arrive at 8:00 a.m. That changed to 10-12 - no show. At that point I was so frustrated that the manager called off the job entirely saying that there was no way to please me. The heck there was - show up when you say you will and do a good job.
They are NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau, and my mistake was letting that slide because of the referral.
I take responsibility for my bad decision, and hope that Angie's List can save someone from making a bad call like I did.
I have a BBB complaint being worked.

Update: 8-30-12. I have been trying for several days to update my Angie's List review of Sand T Landscape, but have encountered IT problems. Yes, the BBB complaint was and quot;resolvedand quot; after I gave up. I had another company out to address my yard issues on 8 August as I knew that my and quot;relationshipand quot; with Sand T was fractured beyond repair, and they had dismissed me as having and quot;unrealistic expectationsand quot;.
Here is the short version of what the other company found:
1. No permits were filed - City and State violation.
2. Every City and State code for an irrigation system installation was violated - I was told the and quot;brainsand quot; of the system would have been OK 10 years ago.
3. The city could have shut off my water.
4. I would not have been able to sell my house without bringing the irrigation system up to code.
5. Sand T, under scrutiny from the City, had to pay a different company to fix everything because I would not let them back on my property.
6. Areas of my grass were turning brown because there was not enough water pressure for the number of zones installed. I now have 11 zones instead of 7.
I was very fortunate that my grass was turning brown where it should not have been, or Sand T's illegal irrigation system installation may not have been discovered for awhile. I am so grateful that Sand T wrote me off as just a dissatisfied customer.
I will let Angie's List readers decide whom they want to believe.
"Please note that the BBB has closed the member's complaint mentioned at the end of her review, and the BBB notated that "The business (S&T Landscape) made good faith effort to resolve complaint but customer not satisfied with business respone." S&T Landscape does not “belong to the BBB” (is not BBB accredited) because to become a member, there is a considerable annual fee that must be paid by the company. It does not ensure that the company receives a good rating, it just allows us to show that we are a PAYING MEMBER of the BBB, and allows us to use the BBB logo on our correspondence and website, as well as the BBB will monitor our ratings as a company. The BBB website states that “Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. To be accredited by BBB, a business must apply for accreditation and BBB must determine that the business meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints. BBB Accredited Businesses MUST PAY A FEE for accreditation review/monitoring and for support of BBB services to the public.” The sprinkler system installed for the member was originally installed by our licensed irrigator and our team and was fully functional upon completion. Reimbursement for the damaged siding was provided in a timely manner. The “destroyed sections of the yard” mentioned in an original complaint are areas that had to be trenched in order to lay the sprinkler pipes. This is standard procedure for any sprinkler system installation, and the grass will grow back with proper watering. The member had indicated at one time that she was informed that she was a problem that could not be happy, however, from the day the work with her began, she called our office multiple times to check on different items, such as arrival time, the job being done, etc, and the customer (the member) was rude, talked over our office manager, had to be instructed to please calm down and was also asked to not curse or use profanity while speaking to any of our staff. The member’s attitude and tone was hostile and demanding much of the time. When the owner of the company, Steven Bartlett, was informed that the member was using profanity and making unreasonable demands at our office manager/secretary while she was giving her a courtesy call to let her know the crew would be arriving in about 15 minutes (which was still within the timeframe we indicated the crew would arrive for the job on July 6, 2012), he decided to cancel the job and pull the crew from the job because we do not feel comfortable providing service(s) for anyone who is disrespectful to any of our staff. S&T Landscape has installed numerous sprinkler systems over the past few years, as well as in 2012. We aim to provide exceptional customer service to everyone, however, we do still reserve the right to refuse service to those who may be unreasonable or disrespectful to our staff. Having been in the customer service industry for over 10 years, we realize it is not always possible to make everyone happy, but we strive to provide quality service to our customers and recognize that repeat customers are always the best kind to have and keep. Our database of over 500 customers continues to grow because of our quality of service and fair prices. Please do not let the few individuals who have unrealistic expectations and unreasonable demands turn you away from giving S&T Landscape the opportunity to serve you. We are good, honest, hardworking people, and you can read more about us on our website at [email protected]."
