Bryan Hand and his crews did an outstanding job from start to finish; A in all categories. The only reason for the NA on price is I did not get multiple bids for comparison. I've used Handcrafted Pool Care for service in the past and had complete confidence that Bryan would give me the best product possible at a fair price.
In addition to the categories already rated above I would add that there was never any pressure to do more than we were comfortable doing. After 16 years the pool was showing its age; tile separating, brick coping cracking, pitted plaster, and stained decking. Bryan offered different options of repair at various price points. Some issues were more urgent than others. In the end, we decided to do the complete remodel and we're so happy we did. I can honestly say the pool looks even better than it did when it was brand new!
"Hi Removed mbr info, I just want to make sure that you reviewed the right company. You called us to fix a leak on your salt cell and we are the ones who recommended replacing the cell. Your invoice total with us was for $969 to install the new cell and fix a plumbing leak. We were never called out to clean your salt cell and we did not charge you for a cell cleaning. Please double check your records, I think your review may have been intended for another company. If so, please update this rating for us, we would appreciate it."
The owner provided a comprehensive and specific estimate as well as a nice number of options such as plaster color/style for replastering pool as well as deck colors and styles to redo the surrounding deck. Overall, we spoke with three companies and all were within $500 of each other. During the initial meeting and the meeting when we finalized the contract, the owner was very specific about the process; drain and do the prep work on day one, do the replastering day two, finish with an acid wash x3 followed by filling the pool on day three, cleaning the pool and moderating the ph level on day four, cleaning the pool one more time on day five. At no time, during either of the meetings prior to the start of work, was the need to drill several holes through the old plaster to allow for any underground water to drain out of the ground surrounding the pool area explained. We were not home at the time that they did the prep work which was when the workers did the drilling nor were we contacted to explain the process either before or after the drilling. While we were waiting for the water to finish seeping out, we had unusual weather with almost constant rain through the DFW area, although our area received less than most of the rest of the DFW area. Rain did accumulate in the pool and caused an incredible mosquito issue. We requested that they (re) drain the pool several times. They did not make a preemptive offer. Our pool was drained for more than two and a half months. We received a call/text from the owner asking if it was okay for the plaster group to come out the next week, even though the owner was going to be out of town. We readily agreed, allowing us to assume that someone would actually show up the next week, however no one ever did. After we sent several texts asking about the replastering, the owner said that we were going to be the first customer the following Monday. On Monday (late morning), the owner called and said that they?d been working on another ticket and because of the possibility of thunderstorms they were going to cancel for that day as well as the next two days. They finally showed up on Thursday to do the replastering, with the acid wash on Friday, starting the refilling process. Someone came out on Saturday, cleaned the pool, and we swam in it on Sunday. The replastering is beautiful but the customer service is miserable. There is so much positive potential with this company. They have wide variety of options for replastering and decking, very concise but comprehensive proposal, and when the workers were on site they were very professional. However, rather than actually employing all of the people that worked on the pool, he uses subcontractors. This was a contradiction of our initial impression when we interviewed him for the project. I don?t know if that has any bearing on the overall outcome. The lack of responsiveness was incredibly frustrating but the lack of a coherent explanation of the overall process was inexcusable and caused extensive impact in our summer plans. Again, two weeks following completion, the final product seems beautiful and exactly what we asked for but the customer service is either unresponsive or unpredictable. The one worker that we had the most interaction with was extremely nice and professional. If you choose this company, I would suggest that you get specific guidelines on what they are really going to do and then not assume that it?s going to be done in the time frame planned. The finished product is beautiful but we?ve only had it finished two weeks.
"Hi Removed mbr info, I just wanted to respond and say that I apologize for any miscommunication or lack of communication, I assure you that was not my intent. I really enjoyed working with you guys and I am sorry that you had a less than enjoyable experience during the process. Yes, we experienced rainfalls of epic proportions this spring which didn't help the situation but regardless, I am glad that you are happy with the end result and that we delivered what we promised in the end. This was definitely THE most frustrating spring I have ever encountered in the pool business with the rains that we had and I'm sorry that you got delayed as much as you did. Please accept my apology, Bryan Hand, Owner."
"Hi Removed mbr info, I believe your facts are incorrect. We were hired to clean the cartridges in your filter, clean your salt cell and re-plumb a leak on your cleaner pump. When we do filter cleans we always inspect the components inside the filter, which includes your manifold and everything inside your filter was in good shape. Had the manifold been cracked, we would have called you to get approval to replace the manifold. Also, a manifold is only $80, so I'm not sure where the $400 you are claiming came from, Your total bill with us was $250 for everything. Our technicians also take pictures of all of the work with our mobile software and after reviewing your ticket, I do not believe the review you submitted is correct."
