This company was contracted with Lowes. I purchased quartz countertops from Lowes and they subcontracted with American Granite. The installation was scheduled, but upon arrival it was discovered that they had cut the sink area for the standard sink that comes with the purchase and not the upgrade I had purchased. The quartz was returned to the shop to be recut. I was told by the installer that I would hear from their front office. I did not hear so I called Lowes. Lowes checked with the company and I was told they were trying to reschedule me. I was worked into the schedule for the following day late. The installers were unhappy at installing my quartz as they had been working on a project all day long. The removal of the backsplash was problematic as they left holes in the sheetrock through the entire area. I expected there would be some damage, but there was no way to mount a new backsplash. In addition, the installers told me right before leaving that the sink I purchased was too large and that they had to cut into my cabinet and bracket for my drawer. The drawer was left on my countertop along with the bracket. I was then asked where I wanted the trash which included my old counter top and tile backsplash. I explained that I was under the impression they would haul this off, but I was told their truck was too full. Now, Lowes contacted me and I expressed my unhappiness. They immediately contact the owner of the company and I was contacted by the owner. He told me this was not a reflection of his company's work and that all could be fixed. That day he sent someone out to pick up the trash and take pictures, etc. He also told me he would call me on Tuesday of the following week to make arrangements for someone to come out on Wednesday or Thursday of that week. Tuesday came and went with no contact. Lowes called checking in and they called the office. They were told they were short handed (the installers on my job were fired which makes me feel bad especially since it was the holidays). So it would be the following week. So I am getting frustrated due to the sense I was being put off and the fact at this point I had not receive an apology for this mess. My kitchen was a mess during the Christmas holidays which also bothered me. I was called a week later and told it would be Monday of the following week, when someone would come out to fix the problem. The issue was that they wanted to send their best man to fix the problem and he was not available. At this point I was angry and e-mailed Lowes that I wanted it fixed by Friday of that week or I wanted them to come and get the quartz and I wanted a refund. I hated to do that as I am generally not a individual who throws temper tantrums, but enough was enough. That day I finally received an apology from the owner and he had someone at my home on Friday who fixed the issues. The product they provide is excellent. I understand that things happen. But the lack of communication from the company after the mess left at my home was almost non-existent. I believe that this company does a very good job if there are no issues, but if issues arise, they seem to be unable to manage the problems. I was also being put back in line to be rescheduled. That was frustrating. I felt I was being seen as a problem that just needed to go away. I was very disappointed with American Granite and with Lowes over this purchase.

Paid and extra $1000 for Mike's contract services, then never saw the contractor again nor would he return my calls.  His sales lady always did the talking.  Marble had bugs all in it.  They tried to remove and patch but still can see bugs in it.  Cracked wall in bedroom adjoining the shower.  Safety bars installed were not centered.  Corner seats were not the ones shown to us at showroom. The seats hold water and they will not drain.
Response from American Granite and Marble

"I believe that you have us confused with another company. We don't do any work with simulated marble nor do we have or have ever had anyone work in the company by the name of Mike."

They set up an appointment and came out and took measurement of both of our vanities and window cills which took two hours. Then the next week another crew came out and installed them in less then 4 hours.  They cleaned up after themselves and were very polite. They were very professional experienced workers that did exactly what they said they would do. I would hire them again with out any worries.

This did not go well AT ALL.  The estimator came out and measured our kitchen, drew a template which I saw, and left.  When they came out a few weeks later to install, two of the pieces were cut wrong; the island had rounded corners instead of the square ones that were on the template (we wanted square corners).  I assumed, mistakenly, that because the corners were square on the template - like the counter we already had - that the new counter top would have square corners, too.  They had to have the first piece completely recut because it didn't fit at all (too small) but they had a piece left of the original slab so that was no problem, and they went ahead and installed the island with the round corners.  My husband was not happy.  It took over two months to (sort of) resolve the issue, and by resolve I mean that I finally asked them to take it out and recut it, making it much smaller, but with squared corners.  When I measured it, prior to it being removed, I found that it wasn't sitting squarely on the cabinets in the first place, having an overhang on one side that was way more than twice as much as the overhang on the other end.  So they took it out and recut it.  When they brought it back and reinstalled it (smelly, messy round #2 of expoxy), I discovered that it had a huge diagonal scratch, almost half way across the granite.  This installation wasn't shiny polished granite, but textured granite with a duller finish.  Leathered granite.  So the installer said he could fix it.  He went out to his truck and got a sanding tool.  I asked him if that was going to damage the finish (of course it was going to) but he said you'd never see the repair at all.  BIG mistake.  However, he worked on it, wiped it all down again so it was wet when they left, and everything seemed to be okay.  As soon as the surface dried completely, a few minutes later, there was a 2-3" diameter shiny, polished circle in the textured granite where the scratch had been the deepest.  I called the company immediately, they were back in less than 20 minutes, and they pulled the whole island top off again and took it with them.  This company is difficult to communicate with, although the woman who generally answers the phone has always been very pleasant.  But they were not pro-active in keeping me informed AT ALL about what was going on with replacing the granite.  In the end, we were without a countertop on our kitchen island for over a month while a new piece of matching granite was located and cut.  After messy and smelly round #3 of epoxy, it was cut right and the original size was restored.

I will say that the installers were very pleasant and respectful throughout, taking care not to scratch our floors or bump the cabinets with these very heavy pieces of granite, and kudos to them for not giving me the stink-eye during the third installation, even though I'm sure they were reprimanded for sanding the scratch and ruining the entire piece of granite.  All in all, the counters look great and the workmanship is excellent, but it took us four months of aggravation to complete what should have been a very simple project.  I realize that this could have been a true nightmare with a very unhappy ending with a less reputable company because, in the end, they did make it right and for that I am most appreciative.

They arrived on time, did exactly what they said, were pleasant and I couldn't be happier. They had requested half up front and half at the end. The workmen left and the next day the store called and asked if I was completely satisfied. She said that its good to let you see the finished product overnight before asking if you were happy so that you had time to really look everything over before the final payment. Wow!

There was about a 3 week lag time between when we finalized our selections and when the work was started. Work was done quickly, 2 and half days start to finish. They definately measured twice because every peice fit perfectly. Only one seam and it is very hard to find. The job included one huge center peice that measure more than 7'X7' and has no seams. Plumbing, electrical, and tile subs were used to complete the job. Coordination between the subs was very good.

We could not have made a better selection. Paul was exceptionally helpful, listening to our ideas (especially my wife's) and concerns, suggesting alternatives, and just flat getting it done. Wayne & Gene did an outstanding job on our backsplashes and flooring. They were very meticulous in doing the layouts, ensuring that we got what we wanted, while keeping us out of trouble when we went overboard! Troy & Joe were excellent in fitting our counter tops. Paul was always available when needed and was a frequent visitor to the job-site. In the end, some of the finishing work details that were left off our original agreement he just took care of, something rare in this "nickel & dime" climate. There never was any haggling or disagreement during the whole experience. The AGM staff was accommodating to my wife & I during the entire process, giving us daily progress reports and goals for the next day. What more could we ask for?

Work was completed on time and in a professional manner. Removing existing tile is a dirty job, but American took great steps to minimize dust. I will use this company again on an upcoming tile job in my kitchen, laundry room and guest bathroom.
